Pews / Accessibility Some pews have been moved around because of

the need for more seating in the choir loft for our large parish choir. Moving a pew is less expensive than purchasing more chairs, plus the natural wooden seating in the choir loft area helps with the already fantastic sounds that come from the loft. With the movement of pews, we are not reducing any seating in the church – just moving some seating to where it is needed. For instance, many who wait in line for confessions have already expressed gratitude for the ability to sit while waiting, with the pew that has been moved there. That pew is also available for those who need more space during the Sunday Mass, especially parents with small children who want to be closer to the narthex, or parishioners with mobility issues. Wooden chairs with arms have been placed in the front section near the Baptismal font, as it has been noted that armchairs are much easier to rise from, especially when one can use arms on either side of them. We are still working on the front center sections, where we need more space than the center aisle allows for movement around a casket during a funeral.

Other projects were suggested when we had the meetings about seating arrangements and handicapped accessibility. Two examples are: more parking spaces for the handicapped; electronic openers on at least one set of inner narthex doors. We will prioritize all of the suggestions that were made and incorporate them as the budget allows.

The Sacrament of Baptism We have already offered the possibility of

having a Baptism during the weekend Masses. This option is provided by the Rite of Baptism. We will continue to offer Baptisms outside Mass once a month on Sunday afternoons, and with this new option of Baptism during Mass, we will more than double the opportunities offered for Baptism. Beginning in 2019 there will no longer be “private” Baptisms scheduled, since the Church wants this first Sacrament to be a public event, with the entire Christian community celebrating the initiation of a new member. Parents who will be preparing for Baptism will be able to schedule their date after fulfilling the requirements for preparation. Please contact Suzanne Bruzga for details at 717-766-9433, or [email protected]

Automated Giving Option: Some families have opted to set up a

“bill payer” system. This is where you can request an automatic payment

from your financial institution, to be sent directly to our church, 410 East

Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, at your requested date of the

month and the amount you choose. The financial institution will then

generate a paper check and send to the parish on that date. This is not as

electronic as we had previously, but the best news of all, is that this service,

for almost all people, is FREE to both the donor and the parish. Thank

you for your continued support of the parish as we continue the mission of

the Our Lord and His Church, all year long. If you have any questions,

please contact the parish Finance Administrator at 717-766-9433 or

Each light can be purchased and dedicated for a minimal donation of $10, or three for $25. The deadline for purchasing lights is Wednesday, November 28th. For more information or questions, please contact Mary Earnest at [email protected] or 717-766-2564.

child we need their contact information. Please send their name and contact to [email protected]. Our mission is to let them know they are in our prayers and an important part of our community.

Let’s talk about miracles. Can you look past the spectacle to find the faith? Can you be Bartimaeus, from last week’s Gospel, and use the miracle to grow in faith and follow the Lord? This week, we start digging into the Gospel of Saint. Mark to encounter the Lord more deeply. Are you ready for a miracle in your life?

Join us for food, fellowship and figuring this whole thing out in Brindle Hall next Saturday morning at 6:15. THAT MAN IS YOU! is an interactive men’s program that enables you to develop the vision of authentic men capable of transforming themselves, their families and greater society, experiencing true freedom as sons of God.
