Thursday, November 22nd is Thanksgiving Day. All are
encouraged to come as a family to celebrate
the Eucharist/Mass which is the Greek word
for “Thanksgiving”. The Lord’s Eucharistic
Last Supper is the origin and real source of our National
celebration of Thanksgiving. Families are encouraged to bring
a food item, that later will be eaten with their family, to have
blessed at the Mass. There will be a table before the altar to
receive the food items during the offertory procession. There
will be a collection at all the scheduled Masses.
The scheduled Masses are as follows:
8:00 am at Holy Spirit, in Hernando.
9:00 am at Queen of Peace, in Olive Branch.
9:00 am at Christ the King, in Southaven.
El jueves 22 de noviembre es día de Acción de Gracias. Todos están invitados a
venir en familia a celebrar la Eucaristía / Misa
que es la palabra griega que significa "Acción de Gracias". La
última cena eucarística es el origen y la verdadera fuente de
nuestra Fiesta Nacional de Acción de Gracias. Se anima a las
familias a traer parte de su cena, que más tarde comerán con su
familia, para que sea bendecida en la Misa. Habrá una mesa
ante el altar para recibir los alimentos durante la procesión de
las ofrendas, habrá colecta durante las misas.

ANGEL TREE --- We are again
participating in Sacred Heart Mission’s
Angel Tree. There are families in our
area that need our help to provide gifts for
their children on Christmas morning.
Each child has two angels on the tree; one
with information on clothing sizes and the other with toy
suggestions. Please take an angel, buy a gift, wrap in
putting the angel/angel# on the package(s). If there is
more than one package, please place all in a large bag
marked with the angel number.
All angel gifts should be returned to the Angel Tree by
Sunday, December 2nd.
ÁRBOL DE ÁNGELES --- Nuevamente estamos
participando en el Árbol de Ángeles de la Misiones del
Sagrado Corazón. Hay familias en nuestra área que
necesitan nuestra ayuda para dar regalos para sus hijos en
la mañana de Navidad. Cada niño tiene dos ángeles en el
árbol; uno con información sobre tallas de ropa y el otro
con sugerencias de juguetes.
Tome un ángel, compre un regalo, envuélvalo y coloque
el # de ángel en el paquete(s). Si trae más de un paquete,
póngalos en una bolsa grande con el número del ángel.

We are forming a youth Christmas
Choir to lead the singing at the 6:00pm
Christmas Eve Family Mass. All
interested youth should come to practice. The choir will
practice on the following Sundays at 1:45pm, November 18,
and December 9 and 23 and the following Tuesdays at
5:30pm, November 27, and December 18. You may come
on either or both days.
Estamos formando un Coro de jóvenes para dirigir el
canto en la Misa de Nochebuena de las 6:00 pm. Todos los
jóvenes interesados deben venir a practicar los domingos 18
de noviembre, 9 y 23 de diciembre a la 1:45pm y los martes

LITURGY OF THE WORD.
FAMILY IDEAS-
The Liturgy of the Word at Mass begins with the first
reading. God speaks to us through the words of Scripture.
Four readings from the Bible are proclaimed at each
Sunday Mass. In Scripture we learn how much our God
loves us.
Share Bible stories with your children from your
own Bible or download a Bible to your cell
phone.
Good Bible stories to start with are Jesus and the
children (Mark 10:13-16) and the good
Samaritan (Luke 10:29-37).
Encourage children to listen for one word in the
readings or homily at Mass that speaks to them.
After Mass, share as a family the word each
person remembers and why it is important. This
helps children focus on the message for their
lives.
FAMILY PRAYER: God of the universe, open our
minds to your word in Scripture so we can learn about
you at Mass and at home. Open our hearts to your love so
that we may love others in your name. Open our hands so
that our family may serve others. Amen.
NOTE TO FIRST COMMUNION FAMILIES
A Bible makes a good First Communion gift for children.
Depending on your child’s reading ability, it can be a
children’s Bible or a colorful youth Bible. Other suitable
gifts include a children’s prayer book or books about
saints for children. Suggest this type of meaningful gift to
relatives, too.

Cuando invitamos a familia o amigos a comer en nuestra
casa les saludamos en la puerta, les damos la bienvenida y
nos sentamos para tener una conversación sobre las
actividades del día o la semana, las cosas que están
sucediendo en nuestras vidas, etc. Es una conversación
entre nosotros. En la liturgia de la palabra también, es una
conversación con Dios. Escuchamos sus palabras en la
Escritura y respondemos con nuestras palabras,
conectando Su historia con la historia de nosotros. Él nos
dijo como vivir, como sentir, como orar, como amar uno
a otro. Escuchamos la historia de nuestra salvación desde
el principio del mundo.
Compra una biblia de niños para tu niño y enseña las
historias en la Biblia. Los niños van familiarizarse con la
Palabra de Dios cuando escuchen la Misa.
21. The Father’s plan is Christ, and
ourselves in him. In the end, it is Christ
who loves in us, for “holiness is nothing
other than charity lived to the full”.[24]
As a result, “the measure of our holiness
stems from the stature that Christ achieves
in us, to the extent that, by the power of
the Holy Spirit, we model our whole life
on his”.[25] Every saint is a message
which the Holy Spirit takes from the
riches of Jesus Christ and gives to his
people.
22. To recognize the word that the Lord
wishes to speak to us through one of his
saints, we do not need to get caught up in
details, for there we might also encounter
mistakes and failures. Not everything a
saint says is completely faithful to the
Gospel; not everything he or she does is
authentic or perfect. What we need to
contemplate is the totality of their life,
their entire journey of growth in holiness,
the reflection of Jesus Christ that emerges
when we grasp their overall meaning as a
person.[26]
21. El designio del Padre es Cristo, y
nosotros en él. En último término, es
Cristo amando en nosotros, porque «la
santidad no es sino la caridad plenamente
vivida»[24]. Por lo tanto, «la santidad se
mide por la estatura que Cristo alcanza en
nosotros, por el grado como, con la fuerza
del Espíritu Santo, modelamos toda
nuestra vida según la suya»[25]. Así, cada
santo es un mensaje que el Espíritu Santo
toma de la riqueza de Jesucristo y regala a
su pueblo.
22. Para reconocer cuál es esa palabra que
el Señor quiere decir a través de un santo,
no conviene entretenerse en los detalles,
porque allí también puede haber errores y
caídas. No todo lo que dice un santo es
plenamente fiel al Evangelio, no todo lo
que hace es auténtico o perfecto. Lo que
hay que contemplar es el conjunto de su
vida, su camino entero de santificación,
esa figura que refleja algo de Jesucristo y
que resulta cuando uno logra componer el
sentido de la totalidad de su persona[26].
