The Holy Door Opens Today! e Extraordinary Jubilee: e Year of Mercy began on the Feast of the Immaculate Concpetion. Today, Gaudete Sunday, join us as Bishop Guglielmone celebrates the 11:15am Mass and opens the Holy Door at the Cathedral. e Holy Year Door is at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, but each Diocese has at least one at their Cathedral for those who cannot make the pilgrimage to Rome. To pass through the door from the outside of the church into its interior, is to pass from this world into the presence of God. When the door is opened, the obstacles of passage to our Lord are removed. During the Holy Year, we hope and pray that the obstacles of personal weakness, temptation and sin will be removed so that we will have a holy union with our Lord. An indulgence is attached to pilgrims making a trip to enter through the Holy Door. St. Mary’s Parish News Traditional Latin Mass: This year a morning Mass has been added 1 January - it will be a Missa Cantata or sung Mass in the Extraordinary Form or according to the Missal of Pope John XXIII. Starting in February, a traditional Latin Mass will be offered on the first Saturday of each month.

Adoremus has published a wonderful PDF for families to print and use at home during this last leg of preparation of the coming of Christ. Altar Flowers: Every member of the parish is invited to contribute to the beauty of our worship space by providing the altar flowers on a particular Sunday to the glory of God, in memory, thanksgiving, or celebration of people or events that are important to that donor. Baptisms are celebrated on the 4th Sunday of every month at 10:30am. To have your child baptized, please call the Parish Office at 843-724-8395. Please call before the birth of your child.

The Sacrament of Matrimony: Either the bride or the groom must be a practicing Catholic and registered at St. Marys for at least twelve months before scheduling a wedding date and beginning the six months marriage preparation. The bride/groom must be an active parishioner, regularly attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and use the envelope system in regular support of the parish.
