#1-016Happy Retirement – Mrs. Jeane Milligan

Mrs. Jeane Milligan who teaches 2nd Grade in our School is retiring at the end of this academic year. Mrs. Milligan has been a Catholic school teacher for 35 years. Before teaching here, she taught at Good Shepherd School in southwest Philadelphia and Saint Ephrem School, Bensalem.

Our 2nd grade students have been blessed to have her as their teacher. Mrs. Milligan is a Reading Specialist who has nurtured a love for reading in her students. Mrs. Milligan also fostered our 2nd grade children’s relationship with Jesus as they prepared for their first reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Our children were always well prepared by her.

Mrs. Milligan’s love for life, children, Jesus, and teaching made Room 2 (her classroom) a wonderful environment. Mrs. Milligan’s presence elsewhere in our school as the Religion Coordinator, Moderator for the Religion School, various committees, and the like has enabled our school to offer quality Catholic education in an environment permeated with Gospel values.

We are most grateful to Mrs. Milligan for the wonderful work she has done as a teacher. Our school has been blessed by her presence.

Best wishes, Mrs. Milligan. May your retirement be blessed with good health and happiness.

Mrs. Milligan Day at Saint Anselm SchoolWednesday, May 21, 2014

This coming Wednesday will be Mrs. Milligan Day at Saint Anselm School. Our faculty and students will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving on Wednesday at 8:30 AM during which we will give praise and thanks to God for Mrs. Milligan. Following the Mass, there will be some ceremonial events throughout the day.

All are welcome to attend the Mass. Mrs. Milligan’s former students (whether you are 8 years of age, 42, or anywhere in between are invited).Wedding Anniversaries

Today, we recognize and congratulate the following married couples who are celebrating a special anniversary during 2014. These couples are attending the 8:00 AM Mass followed by a Breakfast in the Spirituality Center.

Congratulations Liam GrimmerLiam Grimmer, son of Eileen and Lou

Grimmer, a graduate of Saint Anselm School and a student of Archbishop Ryan High School has been awarded The Good Citizenship Award.

The Youth Work Foundation of the Union League of Philadelphia offers this award to motivate young people to set high personal standards of behavior and leadership and to inspire them to become responsible citizens.

Liam Grimmer has been selected for this award because he demonstrates good citizenship. This is manifested in Liam’s cooperative attitude, self-control, perseverance, good sportsmanship and

efforts to uphold the best traditions and principles of the American way of life.

#2-016Convocation for Archdiocesan Priests

Archbishop Chaput will host a convocation for all Archdiocesan Priests this week in Hershey, PA. The theme for the convocation is “Priest, Prophet, & King: Reviving Pride in our Priesthood.” The convocation will convene on Wednesday afternoon (May 21) and conclude on Friday afternoon (May 23).

These days will include the celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours and Mass, presentations, and an opportunity for fraternity and communion among all our priests. May this convocation bear fruit in holiness of life for our priests.

Because of the convocation which Fr. Dunleavy and Fr. Friel will be attending, funerals will not be scheduled on Thursday or Friday. On Thursday and Friday morning, there will be either a Mass or Communion Service at 8:30 AM.

Baseball ManiaBaseball Mania is the name of our exciting

new fundraiser which is replacing our monthly Lottery which we have had for the last few years.

A flier describing Baseball Mania with an order form has been printed on the cover of the bulletin.

Please note that a $20 ticket gives you a chance to win during each of the last 15 weeks of the Major League Baseball Season beginning June 10th. Tickets must be purchased by June 9th.

Sellers Needed – Baseball Mania Sellers are needed for our Baseball Mania.

For every 5 tickets a seller sells, the seller earns a chance to win a $150 sellers prize. For every 250 tickets sold by sellers, there will be a $150 sellers ‘prize. For example, when sellers sell 500 tickets, there will be two $150 sellers’ prize; when sellers sell 750 tickets, there will be three $150 sellers prize. Sellers will be eligible for each prize offered.

Sellers are asked to use forms similar to the one printed on the front of the bulletin. Use the form to sell the ticket; bring the completed form to the Parish Center with $20 for each form; obtain the ticket after returning the form.

Ordination to the PriesthoodOn Saturday (May 17th), 6 men were ordained

to the Priesthood in the Cathedral Basilica. Please remember them in your prayers. Please pray that

more young men will hear and respond to God’s call to serve the Church as priests. The shortage of priests, which has been critical elsewhere in the U.S., is now so in Philadelphia.Thank you from Blessed Margaret Home
