LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Parishioners, Some modern scholars and critics don’t like Gospel passages like the one we heard today. Some even try to argue that passages like this were later additions to the Gospels, because Jesus was too gentle and forgiving to say such harsh things. But in fact, Jesus did say these things, and he said them precisely because of his deep love for us. Christ knows that the battle between good and evil will continue throughout human history. But he also knows that this ongoing battle will provide the opportunity for his grace to spread throughout the world. And once that expansion has reached its fulfillment, he will come again to establish the definitive and everlasting victory of his Kingdom. These are facts, key elements of God’s plan for our lives. We profess our belief in these truths every Sunday, when we say “he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his Kingdom will have no end.” Since this is the way things are, it would have been cruel and heartless for Jesus not to tell us about it. Telling us about it gives us a chance to organize our lives accordingly, to build our lives on the everlasting rock of Christ our Savior: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Jesus doesn’t speak about these events in order to scare us, but in order to motivate us. It is so easy to fall into a purely natural outlook on life, getting so wrapped up in our daily to-do lists that we forget the big picture, and we neglect our friendship with Christ. Jesus knows that nothing could be worse for our happiness, now and forever – and that is what interests him most. Even his predictions of the end of the world, then, are a reminder of his endless love. Jesus tells us that the end of history will come, but he doesn't tell us when, because he wants us to live each day actively, vibrantly, fully. This is what today's Psalm means when the psalmist writes: "I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed." How can we "set the Lord ever before" us? How can we live our daily lives with God "at our right hand" so that we too can live with interior peace, joy, courage, and wisdom? One excellent way is to give a bigger place in our lives to the Holy Eucharist. In every Mass, at the words of consecration spoken by the priest, Christ himself becomes truly present under the appearance of bread and wine. In Holy Communion, he nourishes our life with that real presence, forgiving our sins, healing our spiritual wounds, and strengthening our good desires and intentions. After Mass, the Hosts that haven’t been received in Communion are kept in the little gold box called the Tabernacle. And for the rest of the week, Jesus waits there, patiently, humbly, quietly for us. How do we respond to his love? What more could we do now?. May God Bless you. Fr. Dan

LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Parishioners,

Some modern scholars and critics don’t like Gospel passages like the one we heard today. Some even try to argue that passages like this were later additions to the Gospels, because Jesus was too gentle and forgiving to say such harsh things. But in fact, Jesus did say these things, and he said them precisely because of his deep love for us. Christ

knows that the battle between good and evil will continue throughout human history. This is what today's Psalm means when the psalmist writes: "I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed." How can we "set the Lord ever before" us?

dado?" ¿Cómo responderás?

small. This November, remember that every unbaptized child who has died can be entrusted to God's loving mercy. Let us pray

especially that parents of aborted children are blessed with the hope of being reunited with them in heaven one day. - USCCB
