Scripture Insights Who is this person with the “well-trained tongue.” de-scribed so sharply by Isaiah? He suffers grievously for pro-claiming God’s Word to a hostile people, and has much in common with a figure who appears in three other Isaiah pas-sages, often called the Suffering Servant by Scripture schol-ars. The Servant trusts resolutely in god, sacrificing every-thing to fulfill his calling. The haunting cry of the psalmist “My God, My god, why have you abandoned me” ? Is that of Jesus from the Cross—Jesus faithfully praying the very psalm. In there verses of the Psalm and in the Isaiah reading, we Christians see imag-es that remind us of Jesus and the Passion story, even through the texts were written hundreds of years earlier. Paul’s beautiful words about Christ also seem to carry ech-oes of Isaiah’s suffering Servant. Although Jesus has equali-ty with God he willingly takes “the form of a slave” and becomes to the Father, “obedient to the point of death.” In response, God exalts him above everything. Luke is a master storyteller, and his account of the Passion of Jesus is a tapestry of locations, images, conversations, and details that engage the listener in the drama of Jesus’ final hours. Luke’s account begins with the Last Supper. The words and actions of Jesus at table prefigure his death and the coming of the Kingdom of God. DECORATING OUR CHURCH FOR EASTER

We will be decorating the church for Easter, on Saturday March 26th, at 9:00 a.m. All help will be greatly ap-preciated.

Five Minutes with the word Ask, Seek, Knock

When he first created the world, God’s desire was to have a loving relationship with us. Sin may have separated us from our Father, but he didn’t not abandon us. He guided people like Moses. David, and the prophets until his full plan could be re-vealed. Then, when the miracle of Ester happened, the chasm that separated us from God was remedied-once for all. Now, because Jesus has been raised from the dead we can rise with him to “live in the newness of life” (Romans 6:4) This is such good news! Each of us can be filled with God’ love and presence through the power of the Holy Spirit. Think about how the apostles were changed when the Spirit came on them at Pentecost. They were overwhelmed by God’s love, and they couldn’t keep it to themselves. Their faith was magnetic, and it drew many other people to join them. This gift is not just for the disciples, it’s also for us. So what can we do to open ourselves up to this experience of the Spirit? We can “ask...seek///and knock” (Matthew 7:7). Every day dur-ing the Easter season, fix your eyes on Jesus and tell him, “I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that I can know your love more fully.” The meditations in the little booklet, which are based on the daily Mass readings, can help you do just that. Set aside a few minutes each day to pray, read the meditations, and open your heart to the Holy Spirit. If you seek him you will find him! Joe Difato Publisher
