The Solemnity of Corpus Christi - 7 June 2015 The Solemnity of Corpus Christi is a time of rejoicing and thanksgiving for the incredible gift of the Holy Eucharist. On Sunday 7 June, there will be Solemn Mass at 6 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist followed by a Eucharistic Procession through the streets of Charleston to Saint Mary’s Church, Hasell Street for Solemn Benediction. A Catholic Block Party will follow on St. Mary’s campus. 6:00pm Solemn Mass Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Charleston Celebrant: Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone Music by the Cathedral Choir 7:15pm Cor pus Christi Eucharistic Procession from the Cathedral to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hasell Street, followed by Solemn Benediction. A Catholic Block Party will follow on the parish campus. Piccolo Spoleto at the Cathedral Piccolo Spoleto Spotlight Series: e Charleston Renaissance Ensemble, the Cathedral’s artists-in-residence since 1996, will present a program of choral music there on Saturday, 30 May at 9:00pm. Since 1977 the group has distinguished itself as a premier proponent of early vocal music in the Lowcountry. e concert will include compositions spanning the late Middle Ages through the high Renaissance. St. Mary’s Parish News Support for the Earthquake Victims in Nepal: Our Church mourns the suffering of the victims of the terrible tragedy in Nepal. Bishop Guglielmone urges all to join with the Catholic community across the United States in responding to our suffering brothers and sisters through special donations for the work of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in Nepal. CRS is already providing urgent needs for shelter, water and food for the earthquake victims. If you wish to donate to help CRS in their aid, please drop off your donation to the Parish Office. Checks should be made payable to Catholic Relief Services.

Welcome to Fr. Agustin Torm who has been assigned by the Diocese to be chaplain to surrounding hospitals while he is in residence at the Cathedral Rectory and will assist in celebrating Masses in the Charleston area.

Congratulations to Cathedral Parishioner Arturo Pua who has been accepted by Bishop Guglielmone as a seminarian for the Diocese of Charleston.

Monsignor Brovey will be on pilgrimage to Lourdes and Fatima the next couple of weeks. Please pray for all those going on this pilgrimage!

The Holy Name Society of St Mary of the Annunciation invite all men of the Parish to our season ending meeting:Monday, 18 May 2015, at the home of Sonny Mevers, 2502 Ion Ave, Sullivans Island. The Always-Awesome Vacation Church Camp is 15-19 June, for K4 through 3rd grade! Registration opens 17 May and the deadline is 31 May, so please don’t wait! Forms can be obtained at the Cathedral website (under Parish Life>Vacation Church Camp!) and the St. Mary website, or you can pick one up at the Cathedral/St. Mary church office at 120 Broad St.

Nursery Help Needed! We are seeing lots of new faces in the nursery and don’t have quite enough volunteers to go around. All volunteers with access to children must attend a Virtus Training Session, have a background screening and sign a Code of Conduct and understand the Policy of the Diocese concerning abuse.

World Meeting of Families Conference The Office of Family Life is taking official registrations for our Diocesan trip to Philadelphia, PA for the World Meeting of Families Conference now through 1 July 2015. We depart from Columbia, SC on Mon., 21 Sept. 2015, and return Mon. 28 Sept. 2015. We will be staying in Philadelphia for the conference through the papal Mass on Sunday. Total costs for this trip will vary per individual, as we are providing transportation and lodging only. 4th Annual Fun Nun Bowling Tournament: Lucis Via Charities (the 501c(3) organization associated with the Charleston-area Lucis Via Catholic Young Adults) will host their fourth annual “Fun

Birthright of Charleston, a crisis pregnancy center, needs caring volunteers to serve as friendship counselors, working a three-hour shift once a week at the center’s West Ashley location. The Sacrament of Matrimony: Either the bride or the groom must be a practicing Catholic and registered at St. Marys for at least twelve months before scheduling a wedding date and beginning the six months marriage preparation. The bride/groom must be an active parishioner, regularly attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and use the envelope system in regular support of the parish.
