November 25. 2018 Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

“Jesus answered,

„My kingdom does not belong to this world.” (John 18:36)

How often do we put all our time and energy into building a kingdom here on earth, forgetting that life here is short? The real kingdom is in the next life. Yet, how much time and energy do we invest

in working for that eternal kingdom?

We will be looking for help in decorating the

church as the Birth of our

Savior approaches. If you

would be interested in lend-

ing a hand, please let Fr.

Brian or Cheryl know.

St. Vincent de Paul Giving Tree St. Vincent de Paul is again this year sponsoring the Giving Tree to help

the less fortunate families in the Worcester area. All donations need to be brought in by

December 11th. The donations go to help those in need and support Pernet’s Family Services, Urban Missionaries of Our Lady of Hope and the Millbury Senior Center. We thank you in advance for your generous donations.

There will be a Hat, Gloves and Coat Drive from now until December 30. If you have any of these new or in good condition, please leave on the stage in

the church hall. All donations will be distributed to the

homeless teens at Burncoat High School.

There will be Christmas cards in the front entrance of the church to fill out

with well wishes and happy holidays to our service men and women. These will

be mailed on December 16th.

Around Town…. -Free Advent Concert At Immaculate Concep-tion Worcester, 353 Grove St. Worcester, will hold a free Advent concert on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. in the Church. "Tidings of Great Joy" will be an afternoon of special music featuring so-pranos Joan Shivick and Bridget Klofft, accompa-nied by pianist Olga Rogach. This concert is sea-sonal, sacred, classical, and Advent-themed. Consider attending this concert with three out-standing, professional musicians who will provide us with music to be remembered. It is open to the public, so be sure to invite family, friends, and anyone who enjoys listening to some of the most wonderful music they will hear this Advent sea-son.

Outeach Each month our Grades 9 and 10 (Confirmation Candidates), along with their instructors Ed and Kristen Roccanti, participate in a selected outreach project. Last month, they went to St. John’s to serve a meal to the less fortunate. This month, they assembled 11 Thanksgiving Baskets which will be delivered to Pernet House. We are very proud of our teens and we thank our church community for their donations of Thanksgiving items which went into these baskets. Next month, on December 16th, the project is the organization of the Religious Ed Christmas Pageant held before the 9:30 am mass and the Advent Breakfast following mass. Please keep these teens in your prayers as they demonstrate their church stewardship

LITURGY OF THE WORD

HOMILY

GOSPEL JN 18:33B-37

Pilate said to Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered, "Do you say this on your own or have others told you about me?" Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?" Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here." So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."

FIRST READING DN 7:13-14

As the visions during the night continued, I saw one like a Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; when he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM PSALM 93

SECOND READING RV 1:5-8

Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen. Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. All the peoples of the earth will lament him. Yes. Amen.

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, " says the Lord God, "the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty."

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all things visi-

ble and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only

Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before

all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, con-

substantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came

down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became

man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and

rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the

right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his

kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver

of life who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored

and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic

Church. I confess one baptism for the forgive-ness of sins and I look forward to the resurrec-tion of the dead and the life of the world to

come. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

“St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against

the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we

humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the

power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl

about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”
