The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Did You Know?

We fast for an hour before re-ceiving Communion. We eat or drink only water and medicine and don’t chew gum either be-fore or during Mass.

Receiving Communion

Any baptized Catholic who has had proper preparation and is free from serious sin may re-ceive Communion. In the Eu-charist, lesser sins are forgiven. How do we receive Commun-

ion? We join our minds and hearts with the prayers of preparation said by the priest. We process up with our hands folded. We bow before the sacrament. When the priest or other minister says, “The Body of Christ,” we respond, “Amen.” We may receive the Host in our hand or on our tongue. To receive in our hand we extend our open hands with the left hand resting on the right one and then step aside and with our right hand place the Host in our mouth. When the Precious Blood is offered, we bow. At the words, “The Blood of Christ,” we respond “Amen.” We re-ceive the chalice and take a sip from it. Even though we receive just part of the consecrated bread or wine, we receive Jesus, our God and Savior.

Vocaons Crucifix

The Vocaons Crucifix is a special crucifix that travels

from family to family to inspire prayer for vocaons. It

is to intercede for vocaons and encourage families to

discuss priestly or other religious vocaons.

The Crucifix, prayer brochure, and sign up sheets are on the

vocaons table in the library. Thank you for your commitment

to praying for vocaons.

Altar Servers

All students in 3rd Grade or above are invited

to an Altar Server registration and training on

Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the

church. Altar Servers serve at Sunday Masses

and other special liturgies during the year. For

more information you can contact Deacon Ed

Merritt at [email protected]. Current Altar Serv-

ers who want refresher training are also invited.

Is your marriage tearing you apart?

In our Society, with the pressures of conflicting demands, and too little time, personal relation-ships are often taken for granted. With all of the distractions, we can easily forget that strong, caring, loving relationships take work. Without attention and care, marriages wither. Couples slowly and quietly drift apart or are

being torn apart by terrible words and actions. Many are married in name only or just stay together “for the sake of the kids”. For many it has been ages since they knew the joy of a loving relationship. When infidelity, alcohol abuse, or drug dependency is involved, the situation may seem even more hopeless. Retrouvaille is helping couples put the pieces back togeth-er and rebuild loving relationships. Retrouvaille consists of a weekend experience and a series of 6 follow-up sessions. The next weekend is being offered on July 6-8 at William Kelly Retreat Center in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. If you want more information or if you want to register for the Retrouvaille program, call the New Orleans Family Life Office (504/861-6243) or go to the Retrouvaille web site (www.retrouvaille.org). A non-refundable registration fee is required to confirm your reservation, food and lodg-ing. There is a limited capacity so early registration is rec-ommended. No couple is ever denied the chance to heal

and renew their marriage because of financial difficulties.
