Dr. Hatzinikolas authored and co-authored over 100 publications in masonry construction and performance. His contribution to the advancement of masonry has been recognized by the masonry industry of Canada and he has received a number of awards from technical organizations. Yasser Korany, Ph.D., P.E, P.Eng., LEED AP is a structural forensic engineer and a building science investigator with over 25 years of academic and industrial experience in Canada and the USA. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario and Alberta in Canada and in the state of Michigan in the USA. His research and scholarly contributions lie in the general area of rehabilitation of concrete and masonry buildings with emphasis on creative solutions and technologies that are engineered for sustainability. Dr. Korany’s research has been disseminated in over 60 refereed publications in leading journals and international conferences and has been recognized by several research and paper awards. He served as the University of Alberta’s inaugural Masonry Research Chair prior to joining Origin and Cause Inc. S. Brzev, Ph.D., P.Eng. is a faculty in the Department of Civil Engineering of the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She has 30 years of combined teaching, research, and consulting experience related to structural and seismic design and rehabilitation of concrete and masonry buildings. Dr. Brzev has been involved in research related to seismic response of masonry buildings for the last 25 years. She co-authored the books Reinforced Concrete Design: A Practical Approach with John Pao and Seismic Design Guide for Masonry Buildings with Don Anderson. She serves on the Technical Committee CSA S304 responsible for developing Canadian standard for design of masonry structures and the Board of Directors of the Masonry Society.
