Martin Luther King Jr.Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leader of the Civil Right Movement.He was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia.He believed in nonviolence and believed that everyone had the right to justice. In this movement he did not believe in violence he wanted peace.
His speeches changed the worldDr. King gave a speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. in front of thousand of people. He was protesting the fact that the lawmakers in southern states made it almost impossible for African Americans to vote. Dr. King asked members of the Congress and President Dwight Eisenhower to pass all Civil Rights laws to enable all adults to vote. This speech was given on May 17,1957.
Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested many times in his life. In the year of 1960 he joined black college students at a sit in segregated lunch counter. Soon to be President John F. Kennedy wanted to have King released from jail.
