aailale to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom.
As a pastor of a 8aptist church in Montgomery) Alaama) King lead a 8lac+ us oycott. 3e and
ninety others were arrested and indicted under the proisions of a law ma+ing it illegal to conspire to
ostruct the operation of a usiness. King and seeral others were found guilty) ut appealed their
case. As the us oycott dragged on) King was gaining a national reputation. The ultimate success of
the Montgomery us oycott made King a national hero.
