Wedding ReceptionsGledswood Homestead and Winery offers several locations for your wedding reception. We offer three function rooms. Our Country room and Cask room ooze rustic charm, while the Gledswood room is a more modern space. Our cellar door caters for small and intimate cocktail wedding receptions.

Marquee WeddingsThe grounds of Gledswood lend itself to marquee weddings overlooking the rolling hills of our property.

Function SpacesDue to the size of our property, we do have several function rooms available for your wedding and it is possible to have more than one wedding held on the grounds on the same day.

Cellar DoorThe convict built cellar door is an intimate, character filled, venue which is perfect for smaller cocktail wedding receptions. This space holds up to 80 people for a cocktail event.

Country RoomThe Country room oozes the rustic charm of the property. this room caters for up to 140 guests for a sit down reception, complete with a dance floor and Gledswood’s own decorations. The large windows look out onto the natural surroundings and boast a beautiful evening sunset.

Cask RoomThe Cask room is the second rustic room on the property. It has an open fire, which is perfect for winter weddings. The Cask room caters for up to 90 guests for a sit down reception. A sweet and intimate space for a smaller size wedding surrounded with the fantastic charm of colonial country life.

Gledswood RoomThe Gledswood room is a modern function room offering state of the art sound system and caters for up to 450 guests for a sit down reception. Enjoy the rustic charm of Gledswood’s outdoors in the daylight hours then bask in the modern setting for a formal function.

How we met Adam and I first met at a concert that we attended with a mutual friend. We got along well and flirted a bit but nothing came of it until we met again six months later, by coincidence, one Friday night when we both went to the local club. We chatted and exchanged numbers and soon after that we were organizing another time to meet up, and another, and another until pretty soon we were spending every weekend together and our love story began.

The ProposalAdam and I had always talked about getting married but after 7 years together I didn’t really think it would happen. We travelled to Paris and on the last day Adam was determined that we would spend that night picnicking in the Champs De Mars to watch the Eiffel Tower light up at 10pm. Looking back, I don’t know how I had no idea what was going to happen. At 10pm just as the tower lit up and started to sparkle we walked closer to it and I started taking photos too excited by the view to know what was going on beside me. When I finally turned back his way, Adam was on one knee holding my antique ring in his hands asking me to marry him. It still took a moment, and a few dozen people clapping and cheering at us, before I knew what was happening. But of course I said yes; ecstatic that Adam had managed to pull off something so romantic without me knowing about it..

The planning of our weddingThe planning of our wedding, though at times stressful, was such an enjoyable experience. We gave ourselves a good amount of time, almost 12 months, so that it wasn’t rushed. I depend on lists in my everyday life and for the wedding it was no different - I made lists, and spreadsheets, and more lists as I felt I needed them. Picking the venue was arguably the biggest decision we had to make but after shopping around in the city for a while we decided to head back out to Macarthur, and the minute we arrived at the grounds of Gledswood Homestead we

knew we’d found our wedding venue. Gledswood is just beautiful, and we felt at ease with Dianna as she took us through the ins and outs of a Gledswood Wedding.

Everything else just fell into place after that. I found sticking to local Camden businesses made my life easier, and at times cheaper, and getting in early helped as well. We found our wonderful photographers Eliza and Jenna of Emotiva, our florist/stylist Ashleigh from Clementine Posy, and our videographer Emanuel of Event Photography and Videography all in the Macarthur region. After a few cake fails we finally found Marcelle of Baked Couture Cakes who was just great, and our cake was amazing. I found my Elizabeth Dye gown through Savvy Brides at my very first dress fitting. I couldn’t believe my luck at finding it so quickly but it was such so perfect that I immediately ordered it – even though we hadn’t yet booked the wedding date. For our wedding bands we went to Simon of Grew and Co who was able to custom make a gold and diamond band for me that matched my 1920’s style engagement ring. Adam went for a simple gold band but both rings are beautiful. And one of our greatest finds was Sammy and Lola who specialize in marquee lights – the heart light that featured in our reception was just gorgeous. I loved it. Adam loved it. And judging from the photos on the night so did our guests.

Our wedding themeWe stuck to a low-key, simple, country theme, with a bright, fun, bohemian feel. I just wanted everything to be pretty and I wanted the day to be stress-free and fun. We decided we would let the venue speak for itself rather than go overboard with decorations, and on the day it did not disappoint. For the reception we wanted to give it our personal touch; Adam created our backdrop, which was a beautiful wooden pallet sign with one of my favourite love quotes painted on it. He also wrote out our guestbook sign on blackboard, and a few other signs to set the mood and feel we wanted for our night.



Our wedding dayHands down, it was the best day of our lives. There were a few stressful moments whilst we were getting ready but as soon as I started walking down the aisle none of it mattered. I was overwhelmed with emotion, and seeing Adam standing at the end of my walkway tearing up, I just couldn’t wait to be able to kiss him. Fiona King, our celebrant, beautifully conducted our ceremony. She put together an emotive, but fun and utterly romantic ceremony that was also a little left of field. We decided to include a sing bowl ceremony as well as a hand fasting ceremony on top of the usual ring and vow exchanges. We feel it made it a bit more interesting for our guests. Our reception was everything I was hoping it would be and more. It was a carefree, fun, night but filled with all the emotion you expect at a wedding as well as a few surprises - like our first dance! We spent months working on our routine and we pulled it off brilliantly despite the nerves we both were feeling. Our dance instructor, Carlos (El Paso Latin American Dance Studio) did a fantastic job in preparing us for our epic performance. As much as I didn’t want the night to end we couldn’t have asked for it to go any better than it did.

Our honeymoonAlthough we had been fairly budget conscious for our wedding the same cannot be said for our honeymoon. We decided that we would make our honeymoon a trip to remember and booked into an exclusive resort on South Long island in the Whitsunday’s. Paradise Bay is only accessible by helicopter and the 10-minute flight out to the resort was amazing. We arrived to champagne and a chocolate and fruit platter only to be told that we were the only ones booked in that week – bonus! We were wined and dined by our hosts who were both great. We spent the days eating amazing food, exploring the Whitsundays by boat one day, having two hour long massages by our personal massage therapist (brought over to the island especially for us) the next and basically loving life. It was the most perfect way to wind down after 12 months of wedding planning, and the best way to start our lives as husband and wife.

How we metWe met in our first year of university when we were both attending a student Christian ministry on campus and were friends for a few years. We started dating in our final year and then got engaged three years later.

The proposalThe groom was overseas for work and said he would be back on a certain day. A few days before the expected return date, the bride was walking with some friends (who were all in on the surprise) at the wharf where the couple had their first date. The groom then walked out the bushes, got down on one knee and proposed. The surprise didn’t end there- the couple then drove to the bride’s family home where there were 40-50 people waiting on the balcony- it was an immediate engagement party!

The planning of our weddingWe had to be super organised as it was a three-part wedding of ceremony, lunch, and dinner with 500+ guests. We had spreadsheets for everything from guestlists and RSVPs, to budgets and payments, to the runsheets for the big day. It definitely paid off to have all the logistics worked out as the day ran so smoothly- we also had an amazing group of friends who helped coordinate the day and knew exactly what was happening at each moment. We couldn’t have done it without them!

Our wedding themeThe wedding was a blend of Korean and Australian heritage, though predominantly a rustic-bohemian theme. The mothers wore the traditional Korean gowns at the ceremony. The bride’s dress was simple with intricate lace and flowing chiffon, the bouquets and hairpiece were a pastel palette of a wildflower-like look.

Our wedding dayIt was a beautiful day for a “Big Fat Korean-Australian Wedding”; an outdoor ceremony on the main lawn set the scene for the day with rustic barrels decorated with ivy vines and beer bottles with flowers. The lunch reception was held in the Gledswood room where Korean food was catered for all the guests. In between lunch and the dinner reception our guests were able to relax and take in the beautiful venue whilst the bridal party had our photoshoot. A clear marquee was set up on the lawn outside the Country Room for the evening sit-down canapé reception for 150 people. There was warm festoon lighting across the ceiling, each table was decorated with beer bottle flower centrepieces and each plate decorated with olive leaves. There was much laughter and simultaneous tears, memorable speeches, a first dance to Ed Sheeran, and dancing into the night. It was just an amazing day- we felt so blessed and loved to have our friends and family there wishing the best for us.

Our honeymoonWe went on a 10 day cruise to French Polynesia, flying to Tahiti and cruising around the islands with an overnight stay in Bora Bora. There was lots of adventure with snorkelling, sailing, and swimming with sharks and rays, but also plenty of relaxation and pampering on the cruise.
