The results of the Marks Sattin 2012 Salary Survey are in.
Despite that, Accountants’ optimism has grown in 2012 as they expect their pay to increase by 14.2%. If this is correct, accountants will receive an average salary of £68,400 in 2013.

70% of respondents considered their current roles to be secure or very secure, compared to 58% last year. Accountants have become more confident in their ability to hold on to their jobs in the last year.

This meant total annual remuneration for those who received bonuses rose 8.6% this year to £70,300 from £64,800.

of respondents received a bonus in 2011 despite the uncertain economic climate, and 45% received an increase in bonus from the previous year.
45% Despite the fall in the size of the bonus, there was good news for Accountants as the proportion of professionals who received one rose to 73% from 71% last year.

In the latest round of bonus payments, Accountants received an average of 17.4% of basic pay, compared to 19.2% a year earlier.
