ABOUT MARKETPLACELEADERSHIP INSTITUTE- SINGAPORE

Marketplace Leadership Institute (MLI) Singapore exists for the purpose of equipping ordinary men and women called by God to become marketplace ministers through a mentoring program. Our courses o�er a balance of biblical and theological study with a focus on contemporary issues. The program caters to the busy marketplace minister, with a greater emphasis placed on self-study, while classroom time is devoted to teaching, clari�cation and impartation. We hope to build a strong biblical foundation for every student, while discipling them to become relevant and ethical ministers with strong biblical character. It is our hope that these spirit-led ministers will rise up to be the next generation of competent God-loving individuals for the Lord. 2

Then ORU's Master of Christian Ministry may be your path to e�ective service. This program is fully online. It is designed for those who are looking for an a�ordable way to study the Bible, theology, spirituality, and ministry from both pastoral and community viewpoints.

Completion of each MLI Executive Leadership Development certi�cate is equivalent to three credit hours that can be applied toward an ORU 100% online graduate degree such as the Master of Christian Ministry or the upcoming Master of Arts in Leadership. MLI 102: Biblical Competency in Ministry - Dr Clayton Coombs

This module covers foundational principles in the e�ective study of Scripture to prepare students in its application. Topics include Applied Biblical Exegesis, and Spiritual Formation and Leadership in church and ministry. Drawing on insights gained from the study of signi�cant background issues for application today. The module includes the study of the dynamics of personal and spiritual growth as understood in the Christian tradition.

MLI 103: Digital Communication and Social Media - Dr Markus Pfei�er

It is vital in the age of the Internet and Social Media to understand the potential and utilization of the power of digital communication, especially for Mobile devices. Ideas will be presented on how organizations need to understand the underlying philosophies and challenges of Social Media including how they are transforming cultures, families and personal relationships including the life of the Church.

MLI 104: Transforming Cities and Nations Supernaturally - Rev Chee Kang Seng

This module aims to inform and impart to the student both the knowledge and the anointing to build Kingdom churches that will be able to demonstrate the Kingdom of God and transform the seven mountains of culture. Students will be equipped with a Biblically sound and eschatological understanding of Kingdom dominion for transformation. Emphasis will be on the need for both revival and reformation for the transformation of a nation. At the same time, students will also be introducedand exposed to the practical outworking of the Kingdom of God through the Ekklesia exercising authority in legislating the spiritual atmospheres for transformation.

MLI 105: Kingdom Leadership for Marketplace, City and Nation Revival - Pastor Dato’ Dr Daniel Ho

In this module we will look at what it means to be a Kingdom leader and how a Kingdom leader leads. We will look at the perspectives and marks of a Kingdom leader and also the principles, practices, problems and challenges of Kingdom Leadership. We will look further at some leadership pitfalls to ensure that we are not hindered or even crippled in our leadership role and responsibilities. We will also explore how Kingdom Leaders seeks to serve, in�uence, impact and bring culture change to the marketplace and the city for Christ and His Kingdom. Finally we will look at why Kingdom leaders are burdened for a nation’s revival, what are the marks of such a revival and how could one, by the grace of God, contribute towards this.

MLI 106: Ministering and Operating In the Supernatural - Rev Derek Hong & Mr Thio Gim Hock

In this module we will instill a sound Biblical and theological foundation for a holistic ministry of healing. There will also be impartation and demonstration of healing so that believers can be empowered and equipped to minister healing as a lifestyle.

MLI201: Servant Leadership and Organizational Management - Mr Todd Nichols

This module covers the role of servant leadership, and other leadership modules, can play a role in further Christian ministry and in aiding the growth of business. Students will learn the history of leadership studies with an emphasis on transformation and servant leadership as the pinnacle models.

MLI 202: Missions, Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship - Dr David Burkus & Dr Jay Gary

This module covers the role of innovation and social entrepreneurship in both community resiliency and global missions. Students will study the changing face of world missions in light of a global economy and advancing technologies. These developments demand innovative thinking and new business strategies for Market Place leaders.

MLI 203: Christian Faith and Government - Dr Curtis Ellis

This module explores the Bible’s teachings on politics and government the role of the Christian believer in public service is examined, along with a detailed examination of a Christian understanding of government and politics. Various public policy issues are studied as they are understood by each worldview, such as the universality of human rights, economic freedom, and the proper role and scope of government.

MLI 204: The Call and Challenge in Political Leadership - Honourable Colin Bloom

This module covers a biblical worldview of politics and government. It will also cover transformational leadership in regard to liberty, democracy and justice. It will also deal with global diplomacy and partisan politics.

MLI 205: Christian Conduct and Witness in Government and Public Leadership - Honourable Stephen Lam

This module will comprise of two parts, Part 1: ‘Leadership & Constitutional Government’ and Part 2: ‘Negotiations, Anti-Corruption Programme, Crisis Management, Pursuing Career & Kingdom Building.’ These topics will be covered through a series of ‘Case Studies’, all of which are actual issues handled by the instructor while he was a Minister of the Hong Kong Government.

MLI 206: Global Banking and Financial Systems - Dr Bill Foo & Mr Jehu Chan

This module on Global Banking is designed for Christian professional executives to understand the dynamics of banking, its evolution, and challenges in a fast technology changing world and society amid our Christian values and mission.

With the rise of non-bank �nance institutions, technology/e-commerce companies such as Alibaba, Amazon, cryptocurrencies/bitcoins, this has given rise to the questions and necessity of the roles and functions of banks, particularly the growing risks surrounding banking (regulated and unregulated banking activities).

These risks include payment risks - money laundering, transfer of money outside the regulated system under the purview of central banks by new modes including bitcoins, terrorism and crime related transfers.

The module will also examine other risks to traditional banking - where an increasing amount of funding is through unregulated sources (such as crowd funding, special purpose Funds - whether for trade �nancing, property et al).8

He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from England, an M.A. from Fuller Theological Seminary, USA and the Doctor of Ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary, USA. He taught engineering in Kuala Lumpur for several years before serving as the founding General Secretary of the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) of Malaysia for ten years. NECF is the umbrella body representing all evangelical churches in Malaysia. He is the Founding Senior Pastor of DUMC having retired as Senior Pastor in May 2016.

He has been vicar of Church Of Our Saviour for 36 years and is currently Senior Pastor of Good Gifts City Church and City Missions Church. He is a graduate of Trinity College with a Bachelor of Divinity degree.

Stephen Lam (林瑞麟) was formerly Chief Secretary of the Hong Kong Government from September 2011 to June 2012. Prior to this, he was Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland A�airs. In this portfolio, for almost ten years, he was responsible for elections, human rights and Hong Kong's relations with Mainland China and Taiwan. After retiring from the Hong Kong Government in June 2012, Mr. Lam read theology at Wycli�e Hall, University of Oxford, and the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He graduated with the Certi�cate in Theological and Pastoral Studies in June 2013. He is currently part of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries as an Adjunct Speaker on their Asia team.

Pastor Kang Seng is a revelational preacher who has ministered in more than 20 nations. Thousands have been miraculously healed in Thailand through his ministry which is marked by God’s glory, miracles and breakthroughs! A graduate from the National University of Singapore, Pastor Kang Seng also holds a Master’s degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is the founder of Living Streams International, which is one of the fastest growing apostolic networks in Thailand focused on church planting, evangelism and Transformation. He is also the founder of Revive Asia, a platform committed to the revival of Asia, city taking and nation transformation, which saw the �rst Revive Asia Conference attended by more than 5000 from 40 nations.

Jehu Chan holds an honors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Singapore and an MBA (Finance) from the University of British Colombia in Vancouver, Canada. For over 36 years, he was a professional banker and engineer and has listed more than 30 international and local companies on the Singapore Stock Exchange. He also sits on several boards of public listed companies in Singapore. In 2013, Jehu retired as a senior banker after 33 years in the �nancial industry.

Jehu is also a minister in the marketplace. He is the current the National Vice-President of FGB Gatekeepers Singapore, an organization comprises believers of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to disciple men and women to understand their divine roles as sons and daughters of the Almighty God and to bring God’s values and righteousness into the places which God has placed them. Together with his wife, Christine Jael, they are the Singapore National Directors of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, a global Christian organization comprises of 92 nation-members, headquartered in Jerusalem, Israel.

Bill Foo is currently a professional director, corporate advisor and chairman of several non-pro�t, private and public listed entities.

In 1999 Bill joined ANZ as Country Manager and CEO for 12 years till 2012, and was ANZ Vice Chairman South & South East Asia from 2012-2015 involved in joint ventures and as Non-Executive Director/Commissioner of ANZ Panin Indonesia, Metrobank Credit Card Corp, Philippines. ANZ India, ANZ Malaysia et al. Bill was also one of the longest serving Council Members of ABS having served 11 years and chairing several ABS sub-committees.

Upon retiring from ANZ in 2015, Bill currently serves as an Independent Lead Director of SGX listed Mewah, CDL Hospitality and Tung Lok(as Chairman) and NYSE listed Kenon IC Power which has extensive operations in South America and Israel. Bill was a Director of several companies/entities including Temasek Life Science and IE Singapore(Trade Board) chairing the Audit Committee. Bill is also a Senior Advisor at Bank of Singapore and Lazard Asia and Non-Executive Director of Tower Capital Asia Pte Ltd(PE) and Unigestion Asia Pte Ltd(Investment Management).

Mr Foo serves on several community and charity organisations including as Chairman of Heartware Network(a youth charity) and Salvation Army South Asia, and as a Director of the International Institute of Strategic Studies Ltd(Asia)/Trustee.

Bill has a B.Admin from Concordia, MBA from McGill and an Honorary Doctor of Commerce from James Cook University.

Thio Gim Hock, an evangelist with a compassion for the lost and sick. He has been travelling regularly on missions overseas in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Siberia and Mongolia and Pakistan to conduct evangelistic meetings teaching seminars and revival meetings for pastors, leaders and others. In these countries he has preached to thousands and sometimes tens of thousands and seen the Lord’s hand in bringing many to the Kingdom. He has prayed for the sick in these meetings and seen the Lord healing many – cripples walk, blind eyes open, deaf hear and dumb speak, cancers healed, and many other sicknesses healed. He has seen churches started where there were no churches or Christian witness before, following the meetings in these countries.

He has been active in teaching and ministering in the area of Spiritual gifts and Evangelism. He is also Director and National Coordinator of the Healing Rooms in Singapore part of a worldwide network of Healing Rooms. Here they regularly pray for the sick and have been blessed to see many healings and miracles. The Healing Rooms is headquartered in Spokane USA and there are now over 1500 Healing Rooms in many parts of the world.________________________________________

Colin Bloom has spent nearly 30 years in the business, not for pro�t and political world. Until 2017 he was the International Director of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom. He has served on the Executive Boards of the International Democrat Union (IDU) and the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE). Amongst other responsibilities, Bloom is an Associate at the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) in London, and a global advisor to institutions in both Europe and the United States. In September 2017, he launched a foundation called the Wilberforce Alliance, with o�ces in Westminster, UK and in the US, it focuses on political research and the training of future leaders. He divides his time mostly between London with his family and the United States.

Mr Todd Nichols

Todd Nichols has over 25 years invested in nonpro�t and for-pro�t management. His career spans the globe assisting philanthropists with strategy, project due diligence, and evaluation. He spent over �ve years in the nonpro�t sector. He has worked as a Program O�cer at a private family foundation and has represented multiple philanthropists on various projects.

Mr. Nichols’ work as it relates to philanthropic services have taken him around the world.

Todd also has over ten years of qualitative and quantitative research experience working in national and international environments.

Mr. Nichols earned a BS in Liberal Arts from Southeastern University and an MBA from Regent University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.

Dr. Ellis is the chair of the History, Humanities, and Government Department and an Associate Professor of Government/Political Science at Oral Roberts University. Dr. Ellis combines his practical experience, academic expertise and calling to energize the classroom, invest in the lives of students and develop them into whole persons. His passion and commitment to teaching was recognized when Ellis was granted Auburn University at Montgomery’s university-wide Emerging Distinguished Teaching Professor award for 2013-14.

Ellis has worked at both the state and national levels of government serving as sta� in the Virginia General Assembly and the Virginia Lt. Governor’s O�ce and as a policy fellow in the United States Congress for the House Committee on Education and Labor through the American Political Science Association. Ellis’ award winning research focused on the United States Congress exploring the impact of race and ethnicity on the congressional agenda, the relationship between institutions and agenda control, as well as the ever changing face of campaign �nancing in congressional elections.

Dr. Pfei�er is a native of Switzerland and moved to the USA at age 20 where he committed his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He joined Regent University in 1998 and became a full time professor in 2003. In the same year he earned his doctorate degree in ministry. His doctoral dissertation focused on the development of life vision and mission statements for individuals, churches and small businesses. Besides his academic career and research, he has an extensive practical IT and Internet background. He is the owner of a successful IT and consulting company that serves clients worldwide in online technologies and social media marketing. He believes that practical applications and academic research should be balanced and especially integrated by faith.

His academic research includes how post- modernism, mobile technologies and social media applications in�uence culture and society and speci�cally ministries and churches. He has developed and taught courses in Theology, Communication and Journalism and conducted numerous seminars on these topics in various countries. He is considered a leading expert on vision development, emerging Social Media, and online marketing technologies, quoted, and interviewed in various publications.

Pfei�er has more than 20 years of experience in education and teaching, both in the classroom and online.

Dr. Coombs serves as academic dean of Planet Shakers College, an institution that emerged from Planetshakers Church, one of the largest churches in Australia. In 2008 Coombs completed an MA in Theology at Fuller Seminary, California and in 2013 completed his PhD in Theology at Wheaton College, Illinois. Coombs insights gained from the interpretive practices of the Early Church were published in a monograph on the interpretation of Scripture in the Early Church (A Dual Reception: Eusebius and the Gospel of Mark), and also authored an article on Pentecostal Hermeneutics (Pneuma, 2010).

Having been mentored by Apostle Kevin Conner and Prophet David McCracken, Coomb’s teaching is soundly biblical yet with a prophetic edge. Coombs has ministered in a variety of international settings including bible colleges, churches, youth camps and university campuses. His passionate yet disarming communication style seeks to empower the Church and equip students called to the ministry and the marketplace by giving them a solid foundation and spiritual keys to ful�ll all that they are called to be.

Dr. Jay Gary, one of America's leading foresight educator, came to Oral Roberts University in 2015 with more than two decades of entrepreneurial experience in higher education, business consulting and world missions. Gary now serves as Associate Professor of Leadership, with a portfolio to help ORU launch new degrees that positions graduates for the 21st century marketplace. He has published over 33 papers, including "The future according to Jesus: A Galilean model of foresight," that was selected by Emerald Management as one of 50 best articles of 15,000 in 2008. In addition to his teaching and research, Gary serves as chair of on the board of the Association of Professional Futurists, that equips managers, entrepreneurs and consultants to "work the future” in their industry.

Dr David Burkus is a best-selling author, a sought after keynote speaker, ORU graduate and associate professor of leadership and innovation at Oral Roberts University. Burkus’ latest book, Under New Management, challenges the traditional and widely accepted principles of business management and proves that they are outdated, outmoded, or simply don’t work — and reveals what does. He’s delivered keynotes to the leaders of Fortune 500 companies and the future leaders of the United States Naval Academy. His TED talk has been views over 1.7 million times.
