Market Research Findings
The first method of market research we used was an interview, we interviewed
a teacher who works with pupils with additional support needs.
We also created a survey using survey monkey and surveyed staff within our
school and our partner school which is a special needs establishment.
Findings
The teacher we interviewed liked the app idea because it would be individual
to the pupil and to their needs. She liked the picture feature because it would
help pupils to communicate and increase their confidence. The school are not
currently using apps to support pupils but would be keen to use these in the
future.
Here are some of the findings from our survey:
1. 100% of the people we surveyed liked our app idea.
2. 100% of people we surveyed say this will benefit autistic children
3. 92.9% of people we surveyed said that this app would help them
understand how to communicate
4. 100% of people think this will make a positive impact
5. We asked people how we could further improve our app and some of
the responses were:
Possibly have a section for parents/carers
Put skills into practise
Its good idea to start off with and could further develop once users give
feedback
Make the app grow with the individual
6. 92.9% of people we surveyed said that it would make autistic children
more confident
7. 87.7% of people we surveyed said it would make them feel more
included socially.
8. We asked people if they already had an app like this to support autistic
children and they replied:
Unfortunately no
No
No but if was available to download they would
Alternatives
There are other apps available to support young people with autism. However
our app helps to improve more than just communication skills. Our app will
improve confidence and help them to communicate better due to a higher self
esteem.
