VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Fun loving, enthusiastic parents for the 2014-2015 Big Creek PTA…
This is a great opportunity to become involved in the enrichment of
your children through fundraising and social activities, while
working hand in hand with the teachers and the administration.
The majority of this year's PTA will be leaving at the end of this
school year, and we are actively looking for volunteers for the Big
Creek PTA Board for next year.
The positions open are as follows: President (this could be an
individual or co-Presidents), 3-4 Vice Presidents, Treasurer and
Secretary.
For more information or if you wish to be considered as a
candidate, please email BELINDA BURNETT at [email protected].
Thank you for your consideration!
t
It’s time for box tops again!
You helped the school earn $1682.30 for the PE department with our first
collection. Let’s see if we can beat that this time around! We ask that you
please trim then and place them in a plastic baggie with your child’s teacher
and grade on it. They don’t have to be in bundled groups they can just all go
in one baggie. They can be dropped off at the collection box in front of the
office or in your child’s classroom. The box tops must all be turned in by
February 13th.
Classes winning 1st place per grade will have a PIZZA PARTY!!
Thank you for participating!
Attention Talented
Wildcats!
We are bringing back the Big Creek Talent show for
2014! The event will be held on Sunday March 23rd,
so start practicing now! Tryouts will be held in
February. Check back in the next few weeks for
more details.
To pull this off, we need volunteers. If you are willing to
donate your time for this event, please contact Rhyne
Armstrong at [email protected]. This is a great
way to support our students.
Parents from Brookwood Elementary and Big Creek Elementary are invited to:
PARTNERING WITH PAWTASTIC PARENTS
We will be highlighting the Active Parenting Program. This program is unique
because it explains child development and parenting in terms of the age/stage
of your child.
February 4, 11, 18 & 25
Tuesday Mornings from 10:00 – 11:00
At Brookwood Elementary School (Extra Music Room #230)
Big Creek students help give back to the community through a
fundraiser for Northside Hospital. This is the 4th year BCE has
participated in the Celebration of Lights efforts. Thank you to our
families for donating and to Amy Petrella for coordinating this
fundraiser. Northside Hospital has been a faithful supporter of
Big Creek, and we are happy to be able to contribute to them as
well.

We need volunteers to help set and run the Father Daughter Dance. This year we are holding the event at South Forsyth High School! We
have a more limited set up time and a larger space to decorate, so we would appreciate your help making this dance memorable. We need
20 volunteers to help set up (4.00-6.45 pm). Thank you to those who have already offered their help. We could still use MORE.
Please email Belinda Burnett at [email protected] if you can help in any way!

TOO CHILLY TO GET TO THE LIBRARY??
CHECK OUT OUR NEW EBOOKS
The Big Creek PTA generously donated funds for 80 eBooks that can
be checked out by our students. All of these titles are award
winning or are well reviewed and can be read on any internet
accessible device. Students should go to the Big Creek Media
Center Web Page. After clicking the Catalog tab at the top,
students should click the Follett Shelf tab on the left. They can then
login with their Big Creek username and password. Students will be
able to see all the eBooks in the fiction collection. EBooks can be

Annual Forsyth County Technology Fair
We are excited to announce that we had four very successful participants in this year's County Technology Fair. Students prepared for this event all on their own outside of school hours. They chose a specific topic and used technology to come up with some wonderful projects! Nishika Byakod won first place in animated graphic design for 3rd and 4th grade. Harikesh Tambareni won first place in game design for 3rd and 4th grade. Sneha Gupta won first place in
multimedia applications for 3rd and 4th grade. Parth Garud won third place in multimedia applications for 5th and 6th grade. We had a great turn out and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the projects. Many good luck wishes as they advance to the state Tech Fair in Macon later this spring!
AROUND THE WORLD
This was a fabulous night for all the families. Thanks to the PTA and all the families who ran a table! We had
representation from CUBA, ENGLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, HUNGARY, INDIA, IRELAND, PAKISTAN & SOUTH
AFRICA. The food and performances were fabulous!
