Hi and welcome once again to the Quarterly Report for January – March 2018.
I can’t believe how fast time flies these days. It only feels like yesterday that I wrote the October – December report!
Well, the sun is shining and it’s getting cold enough that we can have a cozy fireplace once again. We love this time of the year when the sun is warm, the sky is blue and mornings are crisp. This morning was lovely and fresh at 11 degrees! Bbrrrr..
The caravans and motorhomes have started arriving for their annual trip North and whilst difficult to negotiate them on the highways, we love having them here and regularly have feedback that the Whitsundays is their favourite spot. I’d like to see more of the large American style RV’s that you see over there and I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.
This week we were proud to welcome our newest team member Brett Dwyer to our sales team. Many of you would know Brett from his many years as manager of the Airlie Beach National Australia Bank branch. Brett has also been very successful in development in the area with the 121 building in Cannonvale including office suites and the child care centre. Brett will be specialising in commercial and industrial sales and can be contacted at [email protected] and 0447583759. Welcome Brett to the team!!
There have been some notable sales around the region of late with cashed up buyers happy to secure high end and large portfolios showing confidence in the region. Some recent sales include the Airlie Beach Hotel, a large commercial property in Cannonvale, Club Crocodile in Cannonvale, the iconic Faust building in Proserpine and a waterfront home for $10m+. We can’t give you the exact details due to privacy and confidentiality of the finer details at the moment but we may be able to fill you in a little more down the track.
The rental team report a slight increase in available properties as the wash up from the cyclone continues and some building companies finish up and owners move out of rentals back into their homes. The market is still very tight for tenants to find properties at the moment so it will be interesting to watch this over the next few months. Our team have been debriefed on this matter and will advise our investors of any changes to the market as their properties come up for lease again.
