To prevent UV radiation from attacking the Genoa jib while a boat is moored, it is advisable to place a UV strip on its contours. Once rolled up, the sail is completely protected from the harmful effects of the sun. Specifically designed for this application, Furling is a fabric which – thanks to its light weight, flexibility and durability – does not interfere with the sail’s performance.
Sunbrella® also offers an adhesive, repositionable version which, thanks to the use of a new-generation glue, is easy to apply and change, without damaging the sail. Furling and Furling Adhesive are particularly recommended for boats measuring less than 40’ in length.

Three years of research were required to develop this prototype for a photovoltaic
bimini, the fruit of a partnership between Dickson, CNB (Lagoon: the world’s leading catamaran builder) and nvequipment (the European leader in outdoor boat protection).
Generating clean, renewable energy thanks to two photovoltaic panels integrated directly into a Sunbrella® Plus fabric, this new-generation bimini gives pleasure boat owners ‘intelligent’ solar protection that’s both efficient and aesthetic. It extends the boats’ autonomy while respecting the environment.

INNOVATION that works in synergy with creative design
Sunbrella® Marine fabrics are woven exclusively from Sunbrella® 100% acrylic fibers. During the process, colour pigments are mixed into the heart of the fibre at the initial stage of manufacture, before the yarn is even produced. The result: exceptionally long-lasting colours, rot-proof properties and extreme resistance to bad weather.
A Cleangard® treatment made from fluoride nano-molecules enables this fabric to withstand exposure to salt water. This special protection enhances the fabric’s water-repellent properties, giving it unrivalled resistance to grease and stains.
Bearing the OEKO-TEX label (awarded by an Austrian environmental institute), Sunbrella® fabrics are produced without the use of any hazardous substances and present no danger to the health, skin or environment. Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, most of the fabrics guarantee maximum protection against UV radiation (UPF 50 + = 100% of UV rays filtered).

The trailblazer for the technical textiles industry, Dickson is now renowned throughout the world as the reference when it comes to outdoor fabrics. Marketed under the company’s two flagship brands, DICKSON® and SUNBRELLA®, its products are firm favourites among many of the leading names in boating, design and architecture. The Group’s growth engine, innovation, enables Dickson to diversify its range by offering an extensive selection of technical textiles in keeping with the global trend towards sustainable development.
DICKSON, creator of intelligent textiles
Dickson, a company with a marine DNA…
In 1836, the young spinner, David Dickson, left his native Scotland to create the first linen mill in France, near the northern town of Dunkirk. The company grew in the market for sails by inventing new procedures that gave its fabrics rot-proof properties when exposed to seawater.
From the north of France to the United States:a true success story
In 1969, the Dickson spinning mills merged with the weavers Eugène Constant, located in Lille since 1913. In 1998, Dickson joined the American group, Glen Raven, the world’s no. 1 in outdoor textiles. This combination of technical and commercial expertise now enables them to ensure made-to-measure service for all their customers, all over the world.
