THE CLEAN WATERFRONT – 2008 ________________________________________________________________

The EWaterfront is a term used to indicate focus on holistic planning for the waterfront and local waterways.

EWaterfront development blends the benefits of sustainable and green building techniques with marina construction and Clean Marina management practices. Ewaterfront development can be considered a method of environmental stewardship

Donations and proceeds from the sale of this and other Ewaterfront information benefit local Marina Day, Marina Day Kids and Clean Marina programs.

THE CLEAN MARINA SITE

Page 5: Marina Day KIDS

By some industry estimates there are as many as 18,000 waterfront sites which service recreational boating. 12-14,000 existing sites, and 4,000 sites under development, repair or permitting. Currently, clean marina designations comprise less than 8% of all sites.

The first Clean Marina program was implemented in Annapolis, Maryland in 1998.

Marinas have become family destinations and influence the total waterfront environment. Restaurants, marine shops, clubhouses, boat drystack -- all affect the operation of clean marinas.

Clean marina commitments help reach beyond clean water programs. In over 19 states and nearly 1,000 waterfront sites, marinas are premier locations for waterway education and community involvement.

We would like to enlist your involvement in promoting and celebrating clean waterfront development.

THE BOAT TRIP

A Special Boat Trip for Special Kids

Kids with special needs rarely have the chance to enjoy the pleasure of boating, fishing from a boat, or the excitement of the local waterway.

Marina Day Kids offers children (ages 6-16) from sponsored agencies instruction about boating safety and teamwork, waterway history and environmental respect.

Typical boat trip events include up to 80 children at each site (and 1 adult for every 4 children)

Enjoy the Waterway – Enjoy the Day
