Arts in the New DowntownRaffles Quay Asset Management (RQAM) has launched its arts programme, called ‘Arts in the New Downtown’, supported by the National Arts Council. Joining in Singapore’s SG50 celebrations, RQAM brings arts programmes by local artists to the spaces it manages - Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) and One Raffles Quay (ORQ). This new initiative aims to increase the vibrancy of MBFC and ORQ for office tenants and the community in the vicinity.

MBFC Tower 3 Clinches Green AwardA concerted effort towards environmental sustainability has earned Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) Tower 3 the inaugural BCA Green Mark Pearl Award. This prestigious new award launched by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) recognises the shared commitment of developers/building owners/landlords and tenants in the same building to work in tandem to achieve greater environmental sustainability for the building as a whole.

Contributing to this achievement were MBFC Tower 3’s BCA Green Mark GoldPLUS-certified status and the fact that 63% of its tenants have obtained BCA’s Green Mark certification. The award is testament to Raffles Quay Asset Management’s continued commitment to adopt green practices in the buildings under its charge.

Lights Out for Earth Hour On 28 March 2015, cities around the world joined the fight against global warming, turning off their lights for an hour in support of Earth Hour.

As part of Singapore’s Earth Hour celebrations, Raffles Quay Asset Management pledged its support for the environment by switching off non-essential lighting on building facades and public areas at One Raffles Quay and Marina Bay Financial Centre, while ensuring public safety and security were not compromised. Tenants were also encouraged to participate in this initiative by switching off non-essential lighting.

Insights InsideOn 10 March 2015, 60 foreign delegates attending the Vertical Cities Conference in Singapore got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) by the Raffles Quay Asset Management facilities management team, where they gleaned valuable insights on the different aspects of running MBFC.

The delegates visited the Fire Command Centre to understand how the safety and security of tenants and visitors is maintained round-the-clock, as well as mechanical and electrical rooms to learn how electricity and air-conditioning are controlled.

Hailing from the engineering, construction and architecture industries, the delegates found the visit to be an enriching supplement to their conference experience.

Rochore Kongsi, Singapore’s first sheltered home, is due to close down as the building in which it is located is slated for redevelopment. The residents have been re-located to other homes or studio flats of their choice. RQAM staff organised the lunch as an opportunity to spend time with the residents and wish them well in their new homes.

Cecilia Chan, administrator of the home, conveyed her appreciation. “RQAM staff have been very kind and generous in their monthly sessions, interacting with our residents and carrying out repairs. All of us at Rochore Kongsi are truly grateful for the difference they have made in the residents’ lives, and will always have fond memories of our time spent together.”

Fond Farewell to Rochore KongsiOn 21 April 2015, staff of Raffles Quay Asset Management (RQAM) organised a farewell lunch for the residents of the Rochore Kongsi Home for the Aged. The home had been RQAM’s adopted charity since January 2014, where RQAM staff volunteered their time every month, organising outings and activities for the residents as well as helping out with repairs.

This year, the Deutsche Bank Lunchtime Concert Series ushered in Chinese New Year on 11 February, along with a bazaar featuring Chinese New Year goodies and decorative items made by Deutsche Bank-supported charities. Participating charities included Action for AIDS, Dignity Kitchen, Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped (SAVH), Yong-En Care Centre and WINGS Singapore. The bazaar enabled Deutsche Bank’s supported charities to join in the festive atmosphere and raise funds for their various causes. Attended by beneficiaries from Yong-En Care Centre and SAVH, as well as children from the nearby My First Skool, the concert featured familiar Chinese New Year tunes and fusion songs. Stephanie Ow, recipient of The Deutsche Bank Singapore Chinese Orchestra Music Scholarship, also performed. Twelve Deutsche Bank staff, some with little or no experience playing music, had the rare opportunity to join the SCO in a two-day drumming workshop. The drummers’ hard work and practice culminated in a four-minute drumming performance along with the orchestra.

Deutsche Bank Lunchtime Concert Inspires with MusicDeutsche Bank’s partnership with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) began in 2012 and has demonstrated the power of music to transform and inspire. The SCO lunchtime concerts at One Raffles Quay’s South Tower lobby, hosted by Deutsche Bank and supported by Raffles Quay Asset Management, have been very popular.

Kicking off the first season in Marina Bay Link Mall on 21 and 22 May 2015 were SA ( ) with a refreshing blend of Chinese instrumental, percussion and electronic music, and Legacy Dance Co., who took the audience on an exciting hip hop journey exploring the concept of unity.

Mr Thia is a veteran engineer with more than 20 years of real estate industry experience in a broad range of property, project, facilities-related services and corporate services functions within the financial sector.

Prior to joining RQAM, he was the Director of Administration, Societe Generale Corporate Investment Banking for seven years and Regional Head, Corporate Services with Societe Generale Bank & Trust for eight years. Settling into his new role, Mr Thia said, “The quality of our facilities and building services plays an important role in creating a pleasant and conducive environment for our tenants as well as visitors. I look forward to working with my team to maintain facility and service standards at MBFC and ORQ, for all who pass through our buildings.”

Seamless ConnectivityCome rain or shine, tenants and shoppers will soon find it more convenient to walk between Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 1 and Tower 3. A new canopy is being constructed that will connect the two towers, providing sheltered seamless connectivity.

During construction, pedestrians can continue to walk between the towers and Ground Plaza, aided by clear directional signage and pathways. Business at the Ground Plaza continues as usual during the building works, which are expected to complete by October 2015.

Designed by the renowned Kohn Pederson Fox Associates, the 66-storey development’s prevalent water theme featured sculpted balconies creating a textured building facade that mirrors the rippling of water. Embodying the spirit of ‘garden city by the bay’, MBS ensured efficient use of land space and minimised the environmental and social impact during the construction process. Natural materials were also incorporated into the design and lush greenery is integrated within the development. With a breath-taking view of the bay, MBS highlights the ‘live’ component of the work-live-play concept of Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) where it offers an exclusive waterfront lifestyle with close proximity to the business district and world-class attractions.
