Dine-out nights are a major fundraising venture for rais-ing the funds that Marietta Reads! uses to support the various initiatives we fund in the school and the communi-ty. The most recent Zaxby’s night featuring performances from Park Street, MSGA and MHS was one of the best
attended ever!
In addition to Zaxby’s, Stevi B’s has begun hosting dine-out nights to benefit Marietta

On February 1, Dr. Emily
Lembeck, Superintendent of Marietta City Schools, will be featured on Cobb TV discuss Marietta Reads! and One Book Marietta. This is one more example of this literacy initiative’s determination to reach a broad audience and unite the community in a life-
long love of literature.
Be sure to tune in to Channel 23 on Sunday, February 1 for The Library Show segments
airing throughout the day.
MARIETTA READS! One Book
“The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” by William Kamkwamba
is an amazing, first-hand
description of how one young man observed a problem in his community and worked hard to develop a creative
solution.
In addition to classroom explo-rations centered around
literature and STEM, Cobb County Public Library has also launched One Book
activities. On Saturday
February 7, join friends at Charles D. Switzer Public Library at 1:00 for story telling and craft
using the One Book.
As you enjoy Mr. Kamkwamba’s story, ask a librarian to help with books featuring related topics: engineering, wind power, irriga-
tion, social activism, Malawi.
