Committee of Management

Statement of Achievements Year 2019

As your new chair of the Glen Stor Dun Lodge's committee of management, 2019 was a busy

year. With no previous knowledge of Long Term Care, to say I had a steep hill to climb, was a

bit of an understatement. Under the former administrator's leadership Norm Quenneville, he

made the task easy. In May I had the privilege to attend Advantage Ontario's conference in

Toronto to learn a lot about Long Term Care and the challenges this sector faces. Your

committee of management has worked well together to reach our goals set out for 2019.

I am happy to report that we completed a review of our by-law and current terms of reference,

and we continue to review the frequency and severity of adverse events with a close eye. I had

the pleasure to personally attend a family council meeting in June, and was impressed by the

passion that the committee members have for the lodge and the wellbeing of their family

members. 2019 did bring some staffing changes at the senior management at the Lodge. Our

administrator Norm Quenneville retired at the end of August and we welcomed our newest

Administrator Steven Golden at the beginning of September.

Looking forward to 2020, your committee of management will be participating in

Accreditation Canada process and reviewing our 3-year strategic plan under the leadership

of our new administrator.

I would like to recognize the hard work and dedication that all our employees do on a day to

day basis. Without them, the lodge would not be what it is today.

I look forward to facing the challenges as your committee of management chair for 2020.

Best Regards,

Lyle Warden, Chair

The Alzheimer Society Research Program (ASRP) is a collaborative initiative of the provincial Alzheimer Societies, the Alzheimer Society of Canada, partners, and the valuable donors who support research directed at both eradicating dementia and improving the lives of those affected by it.

The ASRP targets two types of research:1. Biomedical: Focusing on the science of the brain and the changes that are associated with dementia and identifying therapeutic targets to reverse, stop or cure the disease

2. Quality of Life (QoL): Exploring issues that impact the lives of people with dementia and their caregivers, including risk factors, behavioural and cognitive changes, physical support, caregiving and health service delivery
