Web 2.0 tools have made the Internet a 'platform' as opposed to the 'medium' it once was. We used to do our work on our desktop computers and then used the web to send it to someone or to post it as a personal web page. Now we do our work ON the web. The platform changed from being our desktop computer to the web. Now, with web 2.0 tools we can do almost anything we can imagine, and share it with the world.

Wiki - The simplest online database that could possibly work. Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages on the fly.(http://www.wiki.org/wiki.cgi?WhatIsWiki)Pbwiki(somewhat dull), tiddlywiki (somewhat complicated)Wetpaint wiki (fun and easy but has advertisements)Wikispaces (my favorite for teachers with ad-free spaces!!)
Why Use a Wiki?
Uses: Classroom communication for students, parents and
teachers Collaborative spaces for student projects

Blogs What is a blog, anyway?
*A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world.
*Your blog is whatever you want it to be. There are millions of them, in all shapes and sizes, and there are no real rules.
