Hello All;

Hopefully we have seen the last of the cold snowy weather Chown was closed

for 4 days in Feb and due to handy Dart not in operations. Unfortunately if they

are not running, Chown has to close for clients as its usually unsafe for clients

to attend; However we will contact you the morning of the cancellation, to

inform you of this. You are always welcome to make up any lost days just let

Natasha or Sarah– Jane know

Chown Anniversary is March 17th celebrating 42 years of service to seniors in

the Mount Pleasant area.

Our newsletter will be changing ; Now every 3 months starting in

April- May- June : July-Aug -Sept; Oct-Nov-Dec

你知道吗，3月17日（星期四）是圣帕

特里克节（St. Patrick's Day）。

这一节日是为了纪念公元四，五世纪

时爱尔兰的基督教传教士圣帕特里克。在

节日当天，最广为人所见的节日象征是绿色，橙色和三叶

草。三叶草是爱尔兰的象征，也是爱尔兰共和国的注册商

标。

Did you know that St. Patrick’s Day will be

on Sunday March 17th, 2019!

St Patrick's Day commemorates the life and

work of St Patrick, a Christian missionary

who lived in the fourth and fifth centuries.

The most widely-seen St Patrick's Day symbols are the col-

ors green, and sometimes orange, and the shamrock. The

shamrock is a symbol of Ireland and a registered trade-

mark of the Republic of Ireland.

Life History

Connie was born in Brunei and raised up in Singa-

pore. Connie was the 5th of 10 children , her fa-

ther was a successful businessman; he provided a prosperous life.

Connie was a good student at school and able to speak six differ-

ent languages. After graduating from high school, she worked at a

school in Brunei, teaching Malay language. In her spare time, Con-

nie was interested in helping at the salon ran by her family, where

she learned to cut hair.

In 1970’s, Connie and her husband immigrated to Canada

with their children (one son and one daughter). Arriving in Kam-

loops; her husband worked at a mining factory while she re-

mained at home with her children. Eventually they relocated to

Vancouver and Connie worked as a hair dresser until she retired.

Connie lives with her daughter. She helps with the house-

work and enjoys walking daily. Her son, visits her from Seattle

during his holiday. Connie said she is ‘happy living in Vancouver.’

人生故事

Connie生在文莱，长在新加坡。家中一共有

10个兄弟姐妹，她排行第五。Connie的父亲是个成功的生意人，

为家人提供了优越的生活条件。Connie从小聪慧好学，精通六国

语言。高中毕业后，她在文莱一所学校担任教师工作，教授马

来语。空闲时，Connie常会到自家经营的发廊里帮忙，慢慢也学

会了理发的手艺。

婚后Connie和她的丈夫一起移民来到加拿大。他们最初在

Kamloops登陆，先生在矿场工作，她负责打理家务，照顾一双

儿女。几年后，他们一家搬到温哥华，Connie在发廊担任理发

师，一直工作到退休。

现在Connie和她的女儿住在一起，除了做些简单的家务外，

她每天都会做些运动，锻炼身体。住在西雅图的儿子节假日就

会带着孙子女们回来看望她。Connie非常喜欢温哥华的生活。
