Sodium 07/11 No 7-34 ppm Erosion of natural deposits***Unregulated contaminants are those for which the EPA has not established drinking water standards. Our monitoring helps the EPA to determine where certaincontaminants occur and whether it needs to regulate those contaminants.

Action Level (AL) – The concentration of a contaminant which, if exceeded, triggers treatment or other requirements which a water system must follow.Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) - Highest level of a contaminant allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible using the best

available treatment technology.Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) - Level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety.Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL) - Highest level of disinfectant allowed in drinking water; there is convincing evidence that use of a disinfectant is necessary to control microbials.Maximum Residual disinfectant Level Goal (MRGDL) - Level of drinking water disinfectant below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MRDLGs do notreflect the benefits of the use of disinfectants to control microbial contaminants.Non-Detects (ND) – Laboratory analysis indicates that the constituent is not present.Parts per billion (ppb) or Micrograms per liter (mg/l) – One part per billion corresponds to one minute in 2000 years or a single penny in $10,000,000.Parts per million (ppm) or Milligrams per liter (mg/l)– One part per million corresponds to one minute in two years or a single penny in $10,000.RAA – Running annual average. OUR SYSTEM OVERVIEWThe Plainwell Department of Public Works is pleased to provide you with this year's annual Water Quality Report. This report presents information about Plainwell’s water system, from

its groundwater source to your tap. We continually monitor our water supply, pumping and treatment processes and our distribution system to assure safe, reliable water at an affordableprice. The water we produce meets or exceeds all State and Federal requirements and our Water Department had no violations in 2011.

The City of Plainwell began work on a Wellhead Protection Program in 1994 to protect its groundwater from the potential of contamination. This work included evaluating current andfuture well sites and the areas surrounding them, identifying existing and potential sources of contamination within these areas and developing methods to minimize threats to bothdeveloped and future well supplies. Program requirements were met and implementation began in 1998. The city is currently undergoing a review of the program.

The susceptibility to contamination for Plainwell’s operating well fields was determined by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) in 2003. Susceptibility is ratedon a six-tier scale from “Very Low” to “Very High” based on geologic sensitivity, water chemistry, and current or potential contaminant sources. According to the DEQ, two of our wells wererated high in susceptibility and two wells were rated moderately high in susceptibility. Information on the report can be obtained by contacting the Plainwell Department of Public Works at685-9363 or emailing [email protected].

WHAT DOES THIS REPORT MEAN?The City has two high-capacity wells, plus two backup wells that draw ground water from the aquifer underlying the city. As the water is pumped from the ground, fluoride is added to

aid in the prevention of tooth decay, and chlorine is added as a disinfectant to destroy pathogenic organisms that can be harmful to your health. The clean water is then pumped into thedistribution system. Our public works staff collects and tests water samples from the system each day. These tests ensure that proper chemical levels are maintained and that the waterremains free of unwanted contaminants.

The table on the inside shows that our system had no violations. We’re proud that our drinking water meets or exceeds all Federal and State requirements. We constantly monitor forpotential contaminants in the water supply to meet all regulatory requirements.

All sources of drinking water are subject to contamination by substances that are naturally occurring or man made. As water travels over land or underground, it can pick up substancessuch as microbes, inorganic and organic chemicals, and radioactive substances. Therefore all drinking water, including bottled drinking water, may be reasonably expected to contain atleast small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that the water poses a health risk. Our monitoring and testing show that somesubstances were detected but the EPA has determined that your water is safe at these levels.

Microbial contaminants such as viruses and bacteria may come from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural livestock operations and wildlife. Inorganic contaminantssuch as salts and metals can be naturally-occurring or result from urban storm water runoff, industrial or domestic wastewater discharges, oil and gas production, mining or farming.Pesticides and herbicides may come from a variety of sources such as agriculture, urban storm water runoff and residential uses. Organic chemical contaminants including synthetic andvolatile organic compounds are by-products of industrial processes and petroleum production and can also come from gas stations, chemical spills, urban storm water runoff and septicsystems. Radioactive contaminants can occur naturally or be the result of oil and gas production and mining activities.

MCLs are set at very stringent levels. To understand the possible health effects described for many regulated constituents, a person would have to drink two liters of water every dayat the MCL level for a lifetime to have a one-in-a-million chance of having the described health effect.

Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. Immuno-compromised persons such as persons with cancer undergoingchemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ transplants, persons with HIV, AIDS or other immune system disorders, the elderly and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice from their health care providers about drinking water. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by cryptosporidium andother microbiological contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

If present, elevated levels of lead can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in drinking water is primarily from materials andcomponents associated with service lines and home plumbing. Plainwell is responsible for providing high quality drinking water, but cannot control the variety of materials used in privateplumbing components. When your water has been sitting for several hours, you can minimize the potential for lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30-seconds to 2-minutes before usingwater for drinking or cooking. If you are concerned about lead in your water, you may wish to have your water tested. Information on lead in drinking water, testing methods and stepsyou can take to minimize exposure is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline or at www.epa.gov/safewater/lead .

Thank you for allowing us to provide your family with clean, quality water. In 2009, we installed Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) on the two main wells, to maintain a more even waterpressure and to reduce water hammer in the water distribution system when the wells are starting and stopping. We make improvements in order to maintain a safe, dependable watersupply for the benefit all of our customers. These improvements may result in rate adjustments. Thank you for understanding.

We ask that everyone help us to protect water sources. If you see questionable activity at or near a well house or anywhere that may impact groundwater, please notify Public Safetyat 685-9858 or call 911.

The 2011 Water Quality Report will not be mailed except by request. Copies are available from Public Works or City Hall during normal business hours, and on the city web site atwww.plainwell.org.You may request a copy by email from Public Works at [email protected].

Plainwell 2011 Water Quality DataThis table shows the results of our monitoring for regulated substances during the period of January 1st to December 31st, 2011. It is important to remember that the presence of

these constituents does not necessarily pose a health risk.REGULATED SUBSTANCES

If you have any questions about this report or concerning your water utility, please contact the Plainwell Department of Public Works at 685-9363 Monday through Friday, 7am to 3pm.More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

Easter Sunday?

Or the VictoriousPower of the

Kingdom of God?

For most of us growing up “Easter”was about a bunny that came anddelivered gifts of candy, springtoys, new pretty dressclothes/shoes, Easter egg hunts

and family dinner. This year instead of focusing on these thingscan I get your attention and share a powerful message of a beau-tiful TRUE testimony that can, if you allow it to….save andchange your life forever!

CHRISTians (CHRIST-Like) all over the world will celebrate themost POWERFUL, LIFE CHANGING, LIFE GIVING, MIRACU-LOUS VICTORY over death known unto mankind. It was oncesaid that facts can be altered but truth cannot. JESUS said untohim, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comethunto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Three days prior to this miraculous VICTORY, JESUS (YeshuaHa Mashiach who is the Word of GOD made flesh: John 1:14)took a horrific beating to the point He was unrecognizable. Aftertaking on all of this for “you”, He would continue on a journey toGolgotha hill where He would give you VICTORY & ETERNALLIFE, by sacrificing His own life for you!

After JESUS laid His life down willingly on that cross and waspierced in His hands and feet. There He was lifted up for “ALL” thepeople to see. The soldiers and the chief priests, scribes & eld-ers (religious folks of JESUS day) began to mock Him and yetJESUS gave NO response to their tauntings except for “Father, forgive them for they know NOT what they do”. JESUS, when hehad cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And,behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to thebottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; and thegraves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which sleptarose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, andwent into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when thecenturion, and they that were with him, watching JESUS, saw theearthquake, and those things that were done, they feared great-ly, saying, truly this was the Son of GOD! (Matthew 27:50-54)

Now the next day, the chief priests and Pharisees came togetherremembering that JESUS said, after three days I will rise again.JESUS said in Matthew 12:40. For as Jonah was three daysand three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man bethree days and three nights in the heart of the earth. What wasCHRIST doing for three days, was He lying in that tomb lifeless

or was He ALIVE and handling Kingdom Business! 1 John 3:8 He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinnedfrom the beginning. For this purpose the Son of GOD was mani-fested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Hebrews2:14 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh andblood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that throughdeath he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is,the devil. Those three days JESUS broke down the gates thathave and still today hold people captive Psalm 107:16 - For hehath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sun-der. Satan no longer can have power over our lives becauseSatan witnessed the VICTORIOUS TRIUMPH of CHRIST overall creation! CHRIST seized the keys of death hell and the grave.Revelation 1:18 I am He that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys ofhell and of death.

On that Powerful day….that we all celebrate as “Easter orResurrection Sunday” VICTORY was given to “ALL” who wouldreceive! Matthew 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earth-quake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, andcame and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat uponit. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment whiteas snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, andbecame as dead men. And the angel answered and said untothe women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek JESUS,which was crucified. He is not here: for HE IS RISEN, as Hesaid. Come; see the place where the Lord lay. And go quick-ly, and tell His disciples that HE IS RISEN from the dead!

Thousands of people will go to church on Easter Sunday to hearsermons about the resurrection. But how many actually believethat CHRIST is alive and actually know that He and the SAMEPOWER that raised CHRIST from the deadNOW……DWELLS….IN…YOU? What a transformation thatwould take place in your life if you could just receive!

The words the angel spoke “HE IS RISEN” are the most power-ful words that have changed the world as we know it. This VIC-TORY of the KINGDOM OF GOD is available for “ALL” today! If you are hurting, broken, wounded, sick, afflicted, lost, hope-less, homeless, having no family, bound in chains of addiction, past regrets, lonely, depressed, fearful and unsure if there ishope for you to gain VICTORY in your life, I can’t and I won’t offeryou a chocolate bunny or marshmallow peeps…but I can and Iwill take you hand in hand and walk with you to the SAVIOR ofthe World who will gladly give “You” HIS joy, peace, freedom, help, love, direction, health and Life More Abundantly.

We all face trials, tribulations, uncertainties, loss, let downs, hurtsetc…we all know that one day life as we know it on this earth willbe over. For those who have accepted CHRIST as their Saviorand Lord of their life there is HOPE beyond the grave! Rememberthe same power that raised CHRIST from the dead will also raisethose who confess Him.

I don’t want to offer you religion or an invitation to become amember of a local church…I want to offer you the opportunity tohave your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I want to offeryou a relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Iwould like to offer you a gift today that will change your life forEternity! You may not know CHRIST as your personal Savior, however He knows you because He fashioned and formed you inyour mother’s womb and knows every hair on your head (thosethat aren’t there anymore too).

He knows everything about you…Not one person on this earth isguaranteed one more breath…Please don’t live one moremoment here on this earth unsure of what will happen to youwhen your life comes to an end. Please, don’t let the enemy stealfrom you one more day! We ALL have fallen short of the glory ofGOD. We all have pasts that we regret and choices we have orcontinue to make. The enemy loves to make us think we don’tdeserve JESUS’ grace. Let me assure you today that none of usdeserved His Grace….but HE GAVE IT TO US ANYWAYS,because HE LOVES YOU and wants YOU to come home oneday with Him! The ONLY way to get to home to Him is to comethrough His Son CHRIST, there is NO back door and side dooretc…ONLY through CHRIST can you come to the Father.

If you are ready and don’t want to be anyone’s Victim anymorebut rather a VICTOR in CHRIST JESUS then please say this withme today. FATHER GOD, I come to you today in the name ofYour Only Begotten Son JESUS CHRIST. I confess beforeyou that I am a sinner who is lost and in need of guidance, protection & direction. Father GOD, forgive me of all my sinsand make me whole and clean before you through the inno-cent blood of the Lamb of GOD that was slain. I confess andbelieve in my heart that JESUS CHRIST is the ONLY way Ican be assured that my life here on this earth will not endwhen I take my last breath. I am asking you with my heartand confessing with my mouth, to come into my life and bemy LORD and SAVIOR.

Father GOD, give me that hope, give me that peace, give methat healing, and freedom that only You have provided tomany before me. I receive this all in JESUS name AMEN!

If you just confessed JESUS is Lord of your life now…know thisthat ALL the angels in Heaven are REJOICING, and we here atGrace Mercy Luv Ministries are REJOICING with you as well. Please, feel free to contact one of your brethren on how to con-tinue to live and walk out the VICTORIOUS life in CHRIST.Contact information 269-823-4922 or www.GraceMercyLuv.org.1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the GOD and Father of our LordJESUS CHRIST, who according to His abundant mercy hasbegotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection ofJESUS CHRIST from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptibleand undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heavenfor you, who are kept by the power of GOD through faith for sal-vation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Allegan Area Educational Services Agency Opens Young Adult Campus in OtsegoMarch 22, 2012 - The Otsego Community and

Chamber welcome Hillside Young Adult Campus witha ribbon cutting ceremony. The Allegan AreaEducational Services Agency (AAESA) moved to itsnew campus in Otsego at the end of 2011. Thebuilding, located at 219 Farmer St., previously housedthe Otsego Public Library. The building itself workedvery well for the new campus location. Before movingto the Otsego campus, AAESA had three classroomsserving young adults, all in separate locations -Plainwell, Wayland and Allegan. Combining the threeclassrooms allowed the expertise and experience ofthe staff to be fully utilized. For the students, itprovided a variety of opportunities for community

based outings and job experiences, as well as a widersocial base.

This program serves young adults ages 18-26 whocome from eight local school districts in AlleganCounty. Classes are held weekdays from 7:45am-2:15pm. Students work on independent living skills, job acquisition/maintenance, citizenship, pedestrianskills, communication and recreation skills. Studentsparticipate in on-campus classes that emphasize jobskills, such as woodworking, paper making and yardmaintenance. If you would like more informationabout the campus, you can contact Hillside Campus at(269)694-1440.

Wanted: Old Cell PhonesMy name is KarenMcGuire, the daughter ofJimmy & Kumi McGuireand I'm a 7th grader atWoodrow Wilson MiddleSchool. Recently, I wasaccepted into a programcalled People to People. This summer, I will be tak-ing a trip to England,Ireland, Scotland and

Wales to learn about their cultures and whatit takes to become a student ambassador.

I need to raise funds for my tuition on thistrip. One of the ways is recycling old, used oreven broken cell phones. I am working with acompany called PhoneRaiser in Texas. I sendthem the cell phones; they refurbish them andsend them to third-world countries or peoplein the army. I found out through this programthat 1 phone can contaminate up to 39,000gallons of water if disposed of in a normallandfill, and that currently only 4% of the cellphones get recycled.

If you have any old cell phones,or work for a company that might havea pile of them laying around the office,

PARADE OF PALMS“The great crowds that had come to the festival heard

that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they tookbranches of palm trees and went out to meet him,

shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comesin the name of the Lord …” John 12:12-13

It has been called “the week that changed theworld.” Palm Sunday was the day when Jesusdeliberately rode into Jerusalem on a borroweddonkey in dramatic fashion to proclaim to theworld He was God’s Messiah. It was thebeginning of His last week on earth. Matthew saidwhen he rode into Jerusalem “the crowd wentwild” (Matthew 21:9). It was a royal reception withpolitical overtones. The palm branch was asymbol of an independent Palestine. The shoutsof “Hosanna” meant “save now.” Many of the Jewsof Jesus’ time expected the Messiah to bedeclared their political king (Zechariah 9:9)following the tradition of King David.

How very wrong they were! He came not aspolitical king, but as the Prince of Peace. Hecame not as a military leader but on a donkey (asymbol of peace). “As He drew near, He saw thecity and wept over it (Luke l9:41). Jesus wept forthe people who were spiritually blind to His lovingpresence, His life-changing message andprophetic mission.

The Jewish leaders had rejected their king(Luke l9:47) and refused God’s offer of salvationin Jesus Christ. Jesus prophesied the destructionof Jerusalem (Luke l9:43) but few were payingattention. In the year A.D. 70 the city wasdestroyed and six hundred thousand Jews werekilled.

Jesus weeps today for people who miss thetime of His visitation (Luke l9:44). Thecontinuing message of Palm Sunday is that Jesuscomes. The only question is whether or notanyone is paying attention.Prayer: Ride on King Jesus! Come into our city!Come into our church. Come into our hearts, wepray. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Please join us for worship this Sunday in a church“where Jesus’ love is lived.”

ADOPTION EVENT HELD EVERY 2ND SATURDAY • 1-3 PM8171 WEST KL AVE. BETWEEN 4TH & 8TH ST.

Walk? Did you say Walk!Faith has a playful nature, and cansometimes get a case of thezoomies in the hubbub of dogs andpeople coming and going in theshelter. She's still a puppy atheart, and just needs a littlepractice with her manners. But gether out on the trail, and she getsinto her Zen state. There is no dashing from tree to tree, orfrom scent to scent. Faith ambles along beside you like thetwo of you have all the time in the world. Stop for a minute totake in the sights and smells and she is right there, leaninginto you in quiet camaraderie.
