Morling in The Quest for Serenity wrote, “A valuable study of the Gospels could be made, noticing how many times Jesus gave some of His greatest teachings in circumstances where he had simply been interrupted. How different this is from us; we hate to be interrupted. To Jesus, the importance seemed to lie in the person whose path had crossed His own. Things don’t just ‘happen’ in the providence of God. The interruption may well be our highest task at that very moment.” Someone may interrupt you today. Your plans will take a turn in a new direction when an unexpected event or person crosses your path. How will you respond? Is the interruption a bother or an opportunity? Will you see the interruption as a divine appointment with someone who needs your help . . . your words . . . your love? Dietrich Bonhoeffer echoed this thought when he wrote, “We must be ready to allow ourselves to be interrupted by God. God will be constantly crossing our paths and canceling our plans ... sending us people with claims and petitions. ... It is a strange fact that Christians and even ministers frequently consider their work so important and urgent that they will allow nothing to disturb them. They think they are doing God a service in this, but actually they are disdaining God’s ‘crooked yet straight path.’” Get ready, then, for the ministry of interruptions. You might just have a special encounter with God! This Sunday is the last day to place orders for Easter lilies to be placed in the Sanctuary on Easter Sunday. olds. ESL meets Thursdays at 8:45-11:15 a.m. You can work weekly, monthly, or as

Morling in The Quest for Serenity wrote, “A valuable study of the gospels could be made, noticing how many times Jesus gave some of His greatest teachings in circumstances where he had simply been interrupted. How different this is from us; we hate to be interrupted. To Jesus, the importance seemed to lie in the person whose path had crossed His own. Things don’t just ‘happen’ in the providence of god. The interruption may well be our highest task at that very moment.”

Someone may interrupt you today. Your plans will take a turn in a new direction when an unexpected event or person crosses your path. How will you respond? Is the interruption a bother or an opportunity? Will you see the interruption as a divine appointment with someone who needs your help . . . your words . . . your love?

Dietrich Bonhoeffer echoed this thought when he wrote, “We must be ready to allow ourselves to be interrupted by god. god will be constantly crossing our paths and canceling our plans ... sending us people with claims and petitions. ... First Baptist Church’s Boy Scout Troop 70 invites interested boys and parents, boys 5th grade, 10-1/2 years and older, and Webelos II to a informational meeting about Troop 70 and the Boy Scouts of America program. The meeting will be held in room 342, April 17, at 7:00 PM.

2011 was a record year for many of Troop 70’s activities and growth. Troop 70 had 1,955 hours of volunteer service hours to the community, second in our District. Troop 70 was one of only four troops in our district to

earn the National Outdoor Challenge Award which is based on outdoor activities and advancement. The troop earned the Gold (highest) Level in the Journey to Excellence Quality Unit program for the seventh year in a row. Twenty eight scouts attended summer camp, a record number for Troop 70. The troop had ten camping activities and twenty one nights of camping. Two scouts attended Northern Tier, the BSA’s high adventure canoe base in Minnesota and Canada. Troop enrollment was up from last year with fourteen new scouts, for a unit size of thirty seven scouts in four patrols. Scoutmaster Cox was named the Northern Area Troop Scoutmaster for the 2013 Boy Scout National Jamboree. He will lead one of three Greater Alabama Council Troops to The Summit, Bechtel Reserve, the fourth BSA high adventure base, in West Virginia in July of 2013. Nine Troop 70 scouts and leaders will attend as participants and staff.

Assistant Scoutmasters Daniel Dean and Ken Dunn were awarded the Boy Scout Leader's Training award. Dr. Dan Belk and Mr. Ken Dunn were recognized with the District Award of Merit for extraordinary service to their unit and the Talako District, Greater Alabama Council. Congratulations Troop 70!
