It is currently –330C with a windchill of –460C as I am writing this newsletter message. This is the 33rd consecutive day that we have been below normal temperatures for this time of year. What that means is that we deserve a warmer spring and hot summer! March will be a very exciting month as we will be hosting our Sixth Annual Culture Days. On March 20th at 2:30 PM we will have our opening ceremonies, with the parade of nations and cultural performances from around the world. On March 21st, we will showcase our 10 exciting cultural pavilions which will include: The Nether-lands, Polynesian Islands, Madagascar, Canada, Belgium, Chile, Egypt, Ukraine, Mexico and South Africa. Each pavilion has been researched and organized by our MY classes including Mr. Woods Gr. 3/4 class. Visitors will get to sample, experience and learn about the food, language, history, flags, geography, music, clothing, art, sports and traditions from the host country. It’s an exciting event for the entire school communi-ty as our guests travel around the world and have their passports stamped at each “port of entry.” This is a wonderful way to celebrate and learn about our rich multi cultural school community. Ted Longbottom with the Artist in the School Program was at Meadows School from February 25 to March 1st working with our EY students. Mr. Longbottom is a Metis, singer, songwriter and storyteller from Selkirk, MB. On February 27, we celebrate Pink T-shirt Day with the theme of “Be Someone’s Hero” exempli-fying that all of us can stand up against bullying. Enjoy the month of March because Spring is on the way!

LIGHT UP YOUR LEARNING DAY
On February 20 the grades 5-8 classes participated in
Winter Fun Day. Bowling, skating, swimming and curling
were offered as activities in town and a ski trip to Ski
Valley in Minnedosa. Approximately 50 students went
skiing. We had a great time! What a great opportunity
to have fun with your friends for about half the cost
of a regular day of skiing. The weather was great, the
kids were determined to learn and all were success-
ful. A really great day. Hopefully next year even more
students will
choose to come
skiing!

GUIDANCE COUNSELLING
Day of Pink
Day of Pink was celebrated on Wednesday February 27th. This
is a day to come together in a stance against bullying. This
years’ theme was “Be someone’s superhero”. 44 students were
honored during our assembly and on our foyer bulletin board as
our everyday superheroes at Meadows. These students accept
and include everyone and add so much positivity to our school
community. Classrooms decorated their doors and bulletin
boards in recognition of the theme. We wrapped up our day
with a celebration assembly with special performances from
both our dance club and drama club.
Skilled Trades and Technology Showcase
On January 31st, ten of our grade eight students enjoyed spending
the day at Crocus Plains High school experiencing hands-on
vocational courses. This opportunity allowed our students to
experience first-hand what Crocus Plains high school has to offer
students considering the trades. All participants enjoyed their day
and walked away with a better understanding of the vocations
program and careers in trades.
Reminder to Grade 8 Students
Thank you for completing and submitting your high school regis-
tration packages. Look for a letter in the mail over spring break,
which will indicate which high school you have been accepted to.
Upcoming Events
