MARCH 2018
Grand Knight’s Message
* Grand Knight: Don Hogan
* Deputy Grand Knight:
Michael Morris
* Financial Secretary:
Kevin Strezo
* Treasurer: Jeff Bacha
Happy St Patrick's Day! As you know,
Blarney is spoken fluently at all Council
meetings, by Brothers Walker, Hogan,
Bresnahan, O'Sullivan and O’Bacha.
Remember: Friday, March 16, is K of C
Knights’ Night—helping at St Bernard's
Fish Fry … it will also be “Wearin’ of the
Green" night. For all you sorry 3-hour
Eagles fans, you too can be 3-hour
IRISH! Also, Sunday, March 18, is K of
C Hoss's fundraiser day. Eat at Hoss's
on the 18th and part of your bill will be
donated back to our Council. Get your
coupons From Br Jeff
O' Bacca at the meet-
ing, at the Fish Fry,
after Mass, or on the
web site. Thanks to all
who helped Br Greg Z
with the pancake
breakfast ... another
service to the Council well done!
We are also gearing up for the Arc Drive
and the Carnation sale.
Have a blessed Easter Season.
——G K Don Hogan

St. Bernard Fish Fries are now in full swing—as will be our “Knights’ Night” on Friday, March 16.
We will once again show our support for St. Bernard School by having Brother Knights staff the serving line and drink tables, bus tables, and help clean up afterwards. We always have a lot of fun doing this! You can sign up at the March 14th Council meet-ing, or contact me, Mike Morris, at
[email protected] or 724-422-3905.
Of course help is always welcome at ALL the fish fries—set-up Friday mornings, and help with the fish fries beginning at 3:30 PM. Just check with the school by calling 724-465-7139.
Dinners are served on Fridays through March 23, from 4 to 7 PM.
Brother Knights, please support St. Bernard School's biggest fundraiser by attending the fish fries with your family—and encourage your friends to come as well for a delicious meal. We receive many compliments as we are seen “in action” supporting the school and church! —Mike Morris - School Liaison

APRIL 20-22
Join us this year!
The council offers a warm welcome to our new First Degree members,Frank Perfetti and Eric Dawson, who were inducted in January. Please take the opportunity to meet them and to intro-duce them to the programs and activi-ties of our council.
Note that our Second Degree members have the opportunity to advance through our ranks with the Exemplifi-cation of the Third Degree. Please contact me or one of the Council officers about upcoming opportuni-ties.
This brings us to the point in the mid-
dle, the Exemplification of the Second Degree. With no other nearby council offering this degree, efforts are under-way to update the Council No. 1481 Second Degree team with a full staff of brothers to assume each role in the ceremony.
Any Second Degree Knight in good standing is encouraged to consider taking a part, large or small, in this im-portant ceremony. Please contact me or
Br. Tom Pearson for details of this unique opportunity to help form our fellow Knights in the important principles and work of our order.

sacrifice (from
the Latin sacrum
facere - to make
holy), conversion
and drawing closer to Christ.
It's about putting Christ above
all and others before our-
selves. Be assured of my
prayers for you this Lent. I'm
counting on yours.
If you're looking for extra
ways to make a Lenten sacri-
fice … meet with me! :)

Council Fundraiser at Hoss’s March 18 We will again have a fundraiser at Hoss’s restaurant for our Council on Sunday, March 18. A portion of the cost of your
meal will be donated to our Council by Hoss’s on this date. We need brother Knights to help hand out fundraiser cards after Saturday evening Masses on March 17, and at all morning Masses on Sunday, March 18, at both St.
Bernard and St. Thomas More parishes. The cards will in-clude all the information about the fundraiser on it. Contact Brother
Jeff at [email protected] or 724 422-5829.
The 2018 Spring 40 Days for Life Campaign began on Ash Wednes-day and runs through March 25. Christians throughout the world have been participating in this peaceful international campaign, which is occurring simultaneously in all 50 states, in 741 cities and in 47 countries!
Please join us in this Pro-Life initi-ative that to date has resulted in more than 14,000 lives being saved, 170 workers in abortion facilities
leaving their jobs, and 90 abortion facilities being closed. Help us to UNITE in prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil, when we stand and pray from 10 AM to 1 PM in front of Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinic in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, March 21. Your prayerful presence there
could save a life or even a soul from the devastation caused by abortion!
Members of our Council and local parishes will travel to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, March 21, to be part of this important Pro-Life effort. All are welcome to join us—several men and women from area churches have joined us in the past. We will leave from
St. Bernard of Clairvaux (upper parking lot) at 8:30 AM and return by approximately 3:00 PM. Transportation will be provided.
Please contact Brother Bill Ager at 724-465-4522 for more information or to make your reservation to join our group.
Store collections for this year’s Measure-Up
Campaign are scheduled for Friday, May 4,
and Saturday May 5.
As in past years, we will be collecting for the Arc
of Pennsylvania in Indiana at the BiLo, Giant
Eagle and Walmart stores — and in Clymer at
Tates Supermarket.
Signup sheets will be available at the March 14
and April 11 general Council meetings. You can
also view the schedules for each grocery store
online at http://kofc1481.org and sign up for one
or more available time slots by e-mailing the
current Measure-Up chairman, Eric Moisa at
[email protected] or text him @ 724-
550-3842. He will reply to confirm your sign up
time and date.

Is God calling you to attend a weekend retreat this year?
We know from the numbers that close to 95% of our Council members have never made a retreat at St. Paul’s. Please seriously consider going this year to at least try it. It’s a weekend that literally can change your life. You can even customize the weekend to make it your own special time of spiritual rejuvenation. Yes, pray—but also rest, read, attend workshops and discussions, enjoy fellowship—and participate in the holy sacraments (and the meals are very good, too!).
You’ll be among approximately 100 men from Pittsburgh area par-ishes and organizations like ours. To have any questions you have about the retreat answered or to reserve a spot the weekend of April 20-22, see or contact Bill Balint at 724-465-9701 or [email protected]
