1. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age and not older than 20. He or she must be a graduating high school senior who will receive a diploma from an accredited high school, located within the state where they apply. Applicants must be accepted for admission to an accredited college or university, matriculating the following year.
2. Each eligible student must have a father, mother or natural guardian who meets the following qualifications: a. The student’s school must be located in the state where the parent is a full-time active employee OR within a 100-mile radius of where the parent is a full-time active employee.
b. Parent must be a full-time paid member of the police or sheriff’s department or fire department. Parent/guardian may also be a volunteer member of a fire department.
c. Parent or guardian must be a full-time public safety officer (police/fire). Children of administrative staff do not qualify.
d. Children of DHS, FBI and other Federal employees do not qualify.
e. Children of reserve officers, part-time sheriff’s deputies and retired, deceased or disabled employees do not qualify.

March 30, 2016 $2000 The purpose of the Nora Stone Smith Scholarship is to honor and to give financial support to deserving high school seniors and students who have graduated in the past year and have participated in an ESL/ELL program at some point in their lives. This scholarship is available for all ESL/ELL students, regardless of their citizenship status. Nora Stone Smith was an avid reader and self-educated woman. Education was so important to her that she returned to school to get her B.A. in her late 50s and went on to complete her M.A. in Literature. This scholarship was created by her daughter to honor her memory.

A student’s eligibility for a scholarship is based on the student’s intent to seek a four-year degree at the accredited private institution of his or her choice, which receives its fundamental support from sources other than taxes.
Students who plan to attend accredited private colleges or universities (not state funded colleges or universities) and who are bona fide residents of Western Washington may apply for a scholarship.
It is anticipated that scholarships (other than renewals of previously awarded scholarships) will be limited to entering freshmen, with combined math and reading SAT scores (not including the score on the writing section) of over 1200 (or equivalent ACT scores). The Trustees of The Edmund F. Maxwell Foundation may also consider the applicant's scores on the writing portion of the SAT.

The MG James Ursano Scholarship Program offers scholarships based solely on financial need as evidenced by information submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Student must be a dependent of a Soldier on federal active duty, a retired Soldier, or a deceased active or deceased retired Soldier.
Student must be registered in DEERS (Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System).
Student must be under the age of 23 (eligibility ends at the end of the semester/term in which the student reaches their 23rd birthday. (Example – turning 23 in December would mean the scholarship would be awarded for fall term ONLY.)
Student must be enrolled, accepted, or pending acceptance as a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary or vocational institution listed in the US Department of Education’s Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions (http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx). Because financial need is already met, students attending Service Academies are not eligible.
Student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
