Editor’s Note: Margit Gilbertson became the ALTRUM manager in January following the retirement of longtime ALTRUM Manager Greg Sawyer. ALTRUM sat down with Gilbertson to provide Dealers and customers with some insight into the new manager's thoughts on health and wellness.

ALTRUM News: What is your philosophy for health?

Gilbertson: I am dedicated to living healthy through eating well, exercising and taking ALTRUM supplements. I try to eat whole, non-processed foods as much as possible, but I do enjoy a cupcake or two once in a while. I run and lift weights. I have competed in a triathlon and 5K races for local charities and schools.

ALTRUM News: What do you see as strengths in the ALTRUM nutritional supplements line?

Gilbertson: ALTRUM was founded on the belief that good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle are vital to success. The products use the highest-quality ingredients, and are competitively priced. ALTRUM News: AMSOIL University is in May. What can Dealers expect to hear in your ALTRUM presentation?

Gilbertson: I plan to focus on ALTRUM top sellers and how they compare to the competition. Dealers new to AMSOIL will learn how ALTRUM can affect their wallet and how they can make ALTRUM part of their AMSOIL business.

ALTRUM News: Tell us about your background.

Gilbertson: I have always been focused on health and wellness through diet, exercise and natural remedies, but I began my career in medical and pharmaceutical sales. It may seem like an unusual transition, but I’ve always joked that I was too lazy to go to medical school so I looked for an option that was somewhere between business and medicine. I really enjoyed the educational part of the job, but I struggled with the fact that people sometimes rely on medicine more than healthy eating, exercise and nutritional supplements. I hope that my dedication to healthy living, nutrition and education will help Dealers improve their health and the health of those around them.

ALTRUM News: Now that we’ve discussed your philosophy and your job at ALTRUM, can you tell us a little about yourself and your family?

Gilbertson: I live in Superior, Wis. with my husband and three kids, six-year-old twins and a three-year-old. When I’m not working, my time is focused on my kids and their activities, which include swimming, running club, soccer and flag football. I love to cook and bake, and I especially like to take recipes and experiment to make them healthier. I love the outdoors and am fortunate to live in such a beautiful area. In the winter I snowshoe and ice skate, and during the summer I like to hike, swim, camp and kayak.
