Fort Peck — Spring has arrived at Fort Peck Reservoir and the Missouri River. The US Army Corps of Engineers have installed boat docks along the Missouri River at Floodplain and Roundhouse Point this week, and the dock Nelson Creek on Fort Peck Reservoir will be

installed within a week. Docks at the remaining recreation areas with boat ramps will be installed as Fort Peck Lake becomes ice free. We want you to come out and enjoy these resources, but we also want to remind you to be safe. The air may be warm, but the water this time

of year is still very cold. An accident can lead to dire circumstances:• Sudden drowning – initial

immersion will cause cold shock and gasping for air.

National Ag Day today Do you know where your food comes from? If you’re like many Americans, the answer is the Reynolds or Albertsons. And frankly, that’s disturbing. The grocery store isn’t where food comes from - it’s just from where it’s distributed. In reality, far too many people are unaware of the role of American agriculture in their daily lives... and what it really takes to have food on their dinner table.Just a few generations ago, most people were a part of - and had friends or relatives involved with - agriculture. Today, that’s no longer the case. Agriculture is responsible for providing the necessities of life... food, fiber, clothing, and shelter. And it’s about time Americans recognize that contribution! American farmers are working harder than ever, and it shows. Today, each American farmer feeds more than 144 people. And the need for food produced in the United States is dramatic. Agriculture is this nation’s #1 export and vitally important in sustaining a healthy economy. And it’s not just the farmer who makes our food possible. The entire agriculture industry, all the way to the grocery store, are vital links in a chain that brings food to every citizen — and millions of people abroad. Frankly, it’s easy to take agriculture for granted in America. Our food is readily accessible and safe. For this, we’re unbelievably fortunate. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have an obligation to recognize how it’s made possible. March 18, 2015, is National Ag Day, hosted by the Agriculture Council of America. Ag Day is a good time to reflect - and be grateful for - American agriculture!

Dr. Chip to speak Tuesday Dr. Chip Halverson, 1987 Glasgow High School graduate, will be here for another free health talk on Tuesday, March 24th from 6:00-7:15 p.m. at the Cottonwood Inn. We’ll have some more info in tomorrow’s Buzz.

THURSDAY

Myron Malnaa is the auctioneer for tonight’s calcutta of the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament (see advertisement at left). Thanks for supporting Reds/Babe Ruth baseball!

Pictured with Tom Markle (center) are Ken Jansa, Area Chairman (Left) and Jeff Cole, Treasurer (Right) of the local Missouri/Milk River Chapter of Ducks Unlimited presenting Tom with a check for $2,900 to benefit the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial. The DU chapter brought in a nice Henry Rifle that was auctioned off at March 7ths Dinner Event, with all proceeds going to the Veterans Memorial. The tremendous supporter of this auction item was Norm Sillerud of HiLine Ford in Glasgow.
