If you know a teen between age 14 and 18? Chances are, at some point, they’ve wanted to fly. You can help put them in the air.

Sacandaga Bible Conference is partnering with Brigade Air to offer a week of Flight Camp, from July 26-Aug. 1. The seven-day program includes five days of ground session, flights with a licensed, qualified pilot (weather permitting) and lessons in aviation opportunities, including missionary, commercial and maintenance careers, in addition to other camp activities.

Brigade Air’s mission is to introduce teens to the joy of flying, with a Christian emphasis, while exposing them to the privilege of missionary flying. Aviation has a natural appeal to teens. Brigade Air

harnesses that interest and focuses their attention on technical missions.

Brigade Air’s director, Bruce Wolff is the son of missionaries to Africa. He is a commercial pilot, aircraft mechanic and certified flight instructor, and he spent six years as a missionary pilot and mechanic in the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico. Since 2011, more than 3,000 campers have attended 132 weeklong camps.

The cost is $699, which includes all accommodations, meals, activities and daily transportation to the airport. Registration forms are at sacandagabibleconference.com.

For more information, call Executive Director Dave Spencer at (518) 883-3713 or contact Brigade Air at (520) 248-0980 or email [email protected]

CALENDAR

WinterBlast explodes, drawingnearly 100 teens for weekendSac’s second-annual WinterBlast, a retreat for middle-schoolers and high-schoolers, was indeed a blast, attracting just shy of 100 teens for three days of fun and fellowship. The retreat featured the best of Sac’s programs and activities, including paintball, the climbing wall and a rocking worship band, to go with dozens of outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing and rumble ball. The Rev. Rob Phillips of Broadalbin Baptist Church shared the Gospel throughout the weekend. The retreat is unique among Christian camping programs because Sac provides all of the staff, including counselors, making it accessible for small churches and teens who are not connected to a church. We’re thankful to summer staffers and local church volunteers for their part in this important ministry.

Summer features Flight Camp

Projects include new roofs, other facilities improvementsDespite long cold spells and winter storm after winter storm, our staff and volunteers spent much of the season outdoors, working with contractors to upgrade and protect some our our most-used facilities.Pine Lodge received a new roof with enhanced venting, along with more insulation, some new windows and new storage closets. A new roof with more insulation also was installed on Johnston Lodge, and the director’s home, known as the White House, and the Ray Mills Youth Center also received a new roof. In Hilltop Dining Hall, a wood-burning stove replaced the fireplace, adding a level of warmth to our winter retreats. The kitchen now features an updated cooking line, with expanded oven capacity, an updated range and a new griddle. Several other projects are planned for spring, including new roofs on existing buildings and construction on two new staff houses. If you’re interested in helping with labor, funding or in another way, please call Executive Director Dave Spencer at (518) 883-3713 or email him at director@sacandagabible conference.com.
