Many thanks to Joe and Nancy Gildea for opening their beautifully renovated carriage house for the festive AHA holiday party in mid-December, and to all the neighbors who brought delicious dishes to share. The next AHA monthly meeting is on Thursday, January 25, at 52 Welles Avenue, hosted by Lex Stevens and David Stitt. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., with a light supper at 7; desserts are welcome as always. On the agenda: a report on the “Love Your Block” grant application for trash barrels along Ashmont Street recently submitted to the City of Boston by a group of neigh- bors; information about the Boston Police Department’s new CamShare security camera program for both busi- nesses and residents; the regular C-11 report; new business and announce- ments. All Ashmont Hill neighbors, whether owners or renters, newcomers, long- timers or in between, are welcome and encouraged to attend AHA meetings and other neighborhood activities. AHA meets on the fourth Thursday of the month. We have a long tradition of meeting in neighborhood homes to encourage sociability and informality; the upcoming meeting location is announced each month in the Ashmont Outlook. Winter Farmers Market Starts Jan. 27 The Dorchester Winter Farmers Mar- ket returns to the Great Hall, 6 Norfolk Street in Codman Square, on Satur- days, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., from January 27 to March 31. Each week, the market brings together local farmers, food pro- ducers, artists, and more, so you can get fresh, local produce and goods right here in the neighborhood. This year’s vendors include, for pro- duce, Oakdale Farm, Farmer Dave, and Mycoterra Farm (fresh local gourmet mushrooms); for meat/seafood/dairy, Stonycreek Farm and Moonlight Farm; Iggy’s Bread; and Bittersweet Herb Farm, offering flavored oils, vinegars, herb mixes, etc., plus honey from Tewksbury Farm. City Compost will be on hand with information about their composting service. From February 24
