SUCCESSFUL CPHI WORLDWIDE 2017

The Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients took place in Frankfurt from the 24th to the 26th of October 2017. CPhI is the leading worldwide pharmaceutical exhibition, bringing together more than 35,000 pharma industry professionals from +150 countries and 2,500 exhibitors. Pierre Fabre CDMO presented its 3 major businesses: manufacturing of Injectable Products (liquids and lyophilization in vials), Oral Dosage Forms (lozenges, tablets, and liquids) and production of Active Ingredients (for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, dermo-cosmetic uses). The great number of meetings that took place there, as well as the contacts that will follow the exhibition will create new collaborations with companies from around the world.

Fill & Finish of Biological Products

Monoclonal antibodies and immuno-conjugates (in particular Antibody-Drug Conjugates) are a mainstay of cancer chemotherapy. They represent a growing class of injectable products, manipulated under specific conditions to preserve exposure to operators and the sterile environment during the fill & finish operations. In its plant in Pau (France), Pierre Fabre disposes of several specific units dedicated to the manipulation of such complex biomolecules, with a capacity to handle both liquid and lyophilized products. Various monoclonal antibodies (naked or conjugated) are processed to produce drug products directly applicable to patients worldwide. Pierre Fabre CDMO is a recognized expert in high potency manufacturing, with a good track record for the fill & finish of ADCs, currently on the market or under clinical development.

Novel plant Extracts

The development and production of plant extracts and substances has been a key know-how at Pierre Fabre for more than 50 years. Novel extracts are regularly developed for pharmaceutical or dermo-cosmetic usages. A recent example is that of the patented aqueous extract of Gardenia jasminoides fruits developed for Naturactive’s brand Doriance, acting as an oral colouring agent considerably more potent than carotenoids. This standardized natural skin colouring agent has recently been branded as “SunGarden®” by Pierre Fabre CDMO and is now proposed to our partners worldwide under license agreement. PF CDMO is willing to enlarge its exclusive ingredients offer by dipping into the pool of existing actives of the Pierre Fabre’s brands and by developing from scratch innovative ingredients.
