29This machine grinds a portion of fresh coffee foreach cup; for two cups, it grinds two portions ofcoffee, one after the other thus ensuring opti-mum coffee quality.

Before any use, make sure the steam/hot waterknob is closed.

Adjust the desired grinding degree: the recom-mended average value is 5.

The grinding degree must be adjusted onlywhen the coffee grinder is operating, otherwiseit may be damaged.

Place one or two preheated cups on the grill (3)under the dispenser (6). Press the relevantselection key. The machine will automaticallydispense the selected coffee.

The coffee flow may be stopped at any momentby pressing any selection button (except thestandby switch), for instance when an excessivequantity of water has been selected. Should youinterrupt the coffee flow after the first of twocoffees has been brewed, the second is notdispensed.

Pre-ground coffee

Make sure to use pre-ground coffee only (me-dium ground). Never use whole beans orsoluble coffee!

33In order to keep the service area and the centralunit (22) clean, it is recommended to empty thecoffee grounds container (1) every day.

The water tank (11), drip tray (2), cup holdergrill (3), and coffee grounds container shouldbe washed periodically, using a non-abrasivesolvent and drying them carefully.

34The coffee dispenser (6) may be removed forcleaning operations. Unloose the screws andrinse the dispensing tubes thoroughly with hotwater.

From time to time, clean the machine casingwith a damp cloth and dry it.

Clean the pre-ground coffee container (14) withthe aid of the brush supplied whenever neces-sary.

Central unit

Clean the central unit (22) whenever the coffeebean container has been re-filled, or at leastonce or twice a week.

Switch off the machine by pressing the mainswitch (4) and open the service door (19).Remove the coffee grounds container (1).

Wash the central unit with hot water. Make surethere are no coffee residues on the two steelfilters.

36Remove the superior filter by means of thesupplied screw and clean it. Unscrew thescrew, turning it counterclockwise. Then, dry allthe parts of the central unit and tighten the filterwith the screw.

37Remove the coffee rest drawer (23) and cleanit, using a non-abrasive solvent.

Clean the service space thoroughly and fit thecoffee rest drawer again.

38By holding the central unit by its handle, slide itback into its original position, making sure it iscorrectly engaged. Then close the service door.Insert the coffee grounds container again.

When fitting the central unit, do notpress “PRESS” (this may cause dam-age to the machine)!

Warning: if the central unit is not correctlyfitted, the display shows

"BREW UNIT MISS "

It is not possible to brew coffee. The machinedoes not work.

Coffee grinder

Never fill the coffee grinder with water: it may

damage the machine!

Descaling

Descaling is necessary to remove limescalefrom all surfaces and holes, thus ensuring aperfect operation of valves, heating controlsand other important parts.

Note: due to the complexity of the coffeemachine hydraulic circuit, the followingdescaling cycles (automatic and standard)do not allow the descaling of all tubes. In fact, easily accessible compo-nents such as the central unit (22)and its plastic connection are ex-cluded.

The machine must be descaled every 3-4 months, according to the water hardness degree. Amore frequent descaling is recommended wher-ever the water hardness degree is very high.

This machine is supplied with a particularwarning light

"DESCALING ""READY FOR USE "

Descaling must be carried out at the latest whenthis message is displayed. In spite of the message, the machine does not stop working. To switch offthe display, press the steam key for approx. 5seconds until the message disappears.Furthermore, said display warning may beadjusted according to the water hardness de-gree. The machine has been adjusted at thefactory to 25º fH value, which causes thedisplay to switch on showing the messageDESCALING after approx 150 l.The water hardness value may be changed, ifnecessary, following the instructions shown onpage 16.

The following adjustments are possible:Hardness 4: high water hardness, over 29ºfH (14° dH), approx. 80 l water passage.

Automatic temperatureadjustment

This adjustment controls the correct temperaturefor coffee, water, and steam. Coffee brewing isautomatically interrupted should the water tem-perature be too high (safety thermostat andoverheating safety device activated).

Antigravel device

Even selected coffees may contain some impu-rities. The coffee grinder is fitted with an antigraveldevice to avoid any damage. Should gravelend up into the coffee grinder, you will hear astrong and characteristic noise. Stop the ma-chine immediately otherwise the protection sys-tem will stop the coffee grinder after approx. 20seconds.

Cleaning/Maintenance

Cleaning

To ensure high coffee quality and a longerworking life of the machine, always keep themachine clean.

Before cleaning the machine, turn off the mainswitch and unplug the machine.

Before cleaning the machine, wait until it coolsdown.

Do not immerse the machine into water orother fluids. (It may be damaged!)

Do not wash parts of the machine in the

2625 DISPOSAL

Turn off the machine with the main switch andlet the solution take effect for approx. 5 minutes.Repeat this procedure two or three times, toallow all the descaling product in the water tankto flow out of the dispensing tube.As soon as decalcification has been carriedout, rinse the water tank (11) thoroughly and fillit with water.Switch on the machine again and let water(approx. 2 l) flow out of the steam/hot waterdispensing tube in order to rinse away residue. The coffee machine is now ready for operation.

ImportantA periodic descaling avoids expensive repairs. The machine warranty does not cover damagesoccurring as a result of the non-observance ofdescaling procedures, improper use and anyother instructions contained herein. Maintainthe manufacturer’s adjustment if the water hard-ness degree is not known.

Storage of the machine

Switch off and unplug the machine if it will notbe used for long periods of time.

Keep the machine in a dry place, far from thereach of children.Should the machine not be used for a longperiod, keep it from dust and dirty.

MaintenancePeriodically check the machine and clean it inaccordance to the instructions.

Disposal

Machines which are no longer operationalshould immediately be made non serviceable,by cutting the power cord. Machines should bedelivered to a public disposal centre.

In case of hard water, a filter should be usedboth to improve the coffee quality and to protectthe machine, thus reducing the descaling fre-quency.

Note: for this purpose, use a descaling pro-duct suitable for coffee machines. Never usevinegar to clean the machine; it mightdamage it.

There are two ways to carry out the descalingof the machine:

Automatic descaling

Switch the machine onto the programmingmode (see page 15).Move the asterisk at the end of the line to themenu item DESCALING. To activate this menuitem press ENT.The display shows:
