SPEAKER’S PROFILESOttmar Back, Vice President, Series and Application Development, HOERBIGER.Ottmar Back is Vice President for Series and Application Development at HOERBIGER Synchrontechnik GmbH & Co. KG. Since 1998, he has also held positions at HOERBIGER as Project Manager for Customer Projects in the Synchronizer Division, Manager of Synchroniser Development, and Director of Sales for the Car Division. Prior to that, Mr. Back spent 12 years at Daimler-Benz AG in research and development where he was involved in gas turbine technology, driveline components, and manual transmission synchronisers.He holds a Dipl.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kaiserslautern.Frank Casimir, Chief Engineer, Manual Transmissions, GETRAG FORDFrank Casimir is Chief Engineer, Manual Transmissions at GETRAG FORD Transmissions located in Cologne, Germany. He started his career in the powertrain organization of Ford Motor Company as a CAE specialist in 1989, and held various management positions in transmission and engine product development in Germany and the US. In 2006 he joined GETRAG Corporate Group as a product development manager for the first dual clutch transmission product line launched in 2007. Today Mr. Casimir is responsible for the group's front wheel drive manual transmissions portfolio. Mr. Casimir is a graduated aerospace engineer and holds an engineering doctorate degree of the Technical University Aachen. Simon Evans, Automotive Gear Oil Technical Manager, Lubrizol Ltd.Simon Evans is the Automotive Gear Oil Technical Manager for Lubrizol Ltd. Within this role he has the responsibility of liaising with OEMs globally on their future lubricant requirements, developing additives to meet these needs and implementing these newly designed technologies into the marketplace. Mr. Evans has a background in engineering. This background led him to leading field testing at Lubrizol for a number of years prior to his current role as Automotive Gear Oil Technical Manager. He has been in the lubricants industry for nearly 22 years following nine years spent with the British Army.
Donna Mosher, Product Engineering Specialist, Eaton CorporationDonna Mosher is a Product Engineering Specialist at Eaton Corporation where she specializes in transmission lubricants as they apply to different internal transmission requirements. Since joining Eaton Corporation in 2000, she has also tested and designed truck transmissions including development of new transmissions as well as modification of existing transmissions. Prior to her employment at Eaton Corporation, Ms. Mosher tested and designed diesel engine fuel injectors and also worked as an engineer at a specialty steel mill. She has been active with SAE since 1995 in a variety of capacities; she currently serves as Chair of the Sections Board and is a Technical Inspector for the SAE Supermileage Collegiate Design Series. Ms. Mosher holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering and M.S. in manufacturing management from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute).
End-of-course learning evaluation for those desiring Continuing Education Units (CEUs)Individuals interested in earning CEUs are invited to complete a post-course learning assessment. Upon completing the assessment with a minimum score of 70 percent correct responses, Lubrizol will issue a Certificate of Achievement, awarding 1.3 CEUs. The Lubrizol Corporation, Customer Conference Center is recognized as an Authorized Provider of Continuing Education Units by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), which requires adherence to eligibility requirements for IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) according to the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard.

Seminar Overview: Manual Transmissions (MT) maintain a large percentage of the global transmission marketplace, and for India they are certainly a popular choice by consumers. Whether it is the benefits in fuel economy, lower costs of implementation, or driver control, manual transmissions are a critical piece of the OEM design consideration for a vehicle and require an in depth understanding to implement successfully in a design platform.
In this two-day educational course, a team of industry experts from their respective fields will provide detailed technical presentations on manual transmission functionality and design considerations. A variety of inner components will be highlighted including but not limited to hardware designs, synchronizer mechanisms (synchromesh), seals, bearings, lubricants and additives. In addition, real-world case studies are used to provide examples of successful MT implementations. The course concludes with an industry roundtable discussion focusing on the trends and future directions of manual transmission technology.
An added feature of this event is a collection of technology displays to provide further MT understanding and user-experience data. In addition, the registration fee includes lunch and refreshments both days along with a special networking reception designed to provide ample opportunity to interact with transmission experts and resolve questions.
Who Should Attend: Targeted to India engineering managers, chemical and design engineers
as well as development engineers from OEM and upper Tier suppliers. The official language for
presentations will be in English. Simultaneous translation will be provided.
Prerequisites: Course attendees should have a basic understanding of MT functionality and a
university degree in engineering or technical equivalent.
