3.3 Start Tracking You can start to track your car or test the tracker after GSM and GPS LED work normally. There are two

kinds of way to track the car, one is by SMS on mobile and the other is via GPRS on LiveGTS software

platform.

3.3.1 Tracking by SMS on mobile:

Tracker reply SMS with coordinates: When you want to know the car location, you can send SMS command to the tracker, and after some

seconds, the tracker will reply you SMS with the position Lat & Log data.

To get position command is: Command: W<password>,000

Example:

SMS sent: W000000,000 Notes: The default password is 000000.

SMS received:

Latitude = 22 32 36.63N Longitude = 114 04 57.37E, Speed = 2.6854Km/h, 2010-01-24,01:50 GPRS:ON

EXPW: OFF

GPRS means GPRS state: ON: GPRS connect ok OFF: GPRS disconnect Fail: GPRS connect fail

EXPW means external power state: ON: connect external power OFF: disconnect external power

(Note: when your tracker can’t get the GPS signal, it will reply SMS with “(gps no fix) Latitude = 22 32

Page 6: Manual of PT500

- 6 -

36.63N Longitude = 114 04 57.37E, Speed = 0Km/h, 2010-01-14,01:50” this position is the last place

where the tracker can get GPS signal. )

To get PT500’s position by another easier way:

(a) Call PT500 using your mobile phone.

(b) After listening to the ring for 10 - 20 seconds, hang up the phone.

(c) Then after 20 seconds, your mobile phone will receive a position SMS.

You can visit our LiveGTS demo http://demo.livegts.com which includes the Google map, to get the

tracker position name. Input the latitude and longitude that you have received from the tracker by SMS

and click the "Locate" button. Google Earth will display the location for you in our LiveGTS. Please refer

to following diagram.

3.3.2 Tracking via GPRS on LiveGTS software platform guide: Tracking via GPRS, you should set IP, Port and APN for PT500.

Ensure that your SIM card in PT500 supports GPRS connection prior to setting.

3.3.2.1 Add tracker to LiveGTS Login LiveGTS: You can open your tracking server domain name by IE and Login with your account

name and password. (If you have your private account on our server, please visit http://gps.livegts.com

by IE and then login with your user name and password.)

Add tracker to server: Go to “Manage” -> “Tracker Config” -> “Add New Tracker”, please input your

name and tracker ID, select correct tracker’s model.

Page 7: Manual of PT500

- 7 -

Note: 1. Tracker ID must be digital number and can’t start with zero. And it must not over 14 digits.

Please remember this tracker ID, you need to set it to the tracker in the next step.

2. Please select correct model according to your tracker, otherwise you can’t use real-time

tracking correctly.

3.3.2.2 Set ID for PT500 Command: W<password>,010,ID

Note: Tracker ID must be the same with what you set in LiveGTS

Example: W000000,010,12121313

PT500 will then reply with an SMS (‘Set SIM Ok/12121313’) to confirm this setting.

3.3.2.3 Set APN Command: W<password>,011,APN,APN Name,APN Password

Note: If no APN name and password required, input APN only.

Example: W000000,011,CMNET

PT500 will reply with an SMS (like ‘Set APN Ok/CMNET’) to confirm this setting.

( You can ask your SIM card provider for the APN, it is used to report data to server. )

3.3.2.4 Set IP Address and Port Command: W<password>,012,IP,PORT

Example: W000000,012, 64.120.154.14,8500

PT500 will then reply an SMS (‘Set IP Ok /64.120.154.14,8500’) to confirm this setting.

( If you just open test account on our server, the server IP is 64.120.154.14 if you use your own server,

you must set your won server IP. )

3.3.2.5 Set Time Interval for Sending GPRS Packet Command: W<password>,014,time interval(in unit of 10 seconds)

Example: W000000,014,00003

PT500 will send GPRS packet every 30 seconds (we suggest time interval >= 30 seconds).

Page 8: Manual of PT500

- 8 -

3.3.2.6 Enable GPRS Tracking Function Command: W<password>,013,X

X=0, to turn off GPRS tracking function

X=1, to set TCP

X=2, to set UDP

Example: W000000,013,1

PT500 will reply with an SMS to confirm this setting.

Back to LiveGTS and go to “Realtime” page, select your tracker, then you can see your tracker on the

map. All above setting is basic setting to connect to the software. You can do more setting according to

SMS Command List if you need some other functions.

Tracker reply SMS with street name: The tracker must work on the LiveGTS successfully.

Then you can send the SMS command to get the street name. The SMS command: W<password>,111

Example:

SMS sent: W000000,111 Notes: The default password is 000000.

SMS received: Center:Nigang West Road Side Rd, Futian, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China ( additional: tracker only can reply the street name in English )

PT500 will only reply command from a user which use the correct password. Commands with wrong

password are ignored. For more SMS command please refer to the SMS command list in the end of this

manual.

4 Optional Connection 4.1 Cut oil: connect extra relay according to the diagram to cut oil and stop car.

Page 9: Manual of PT500

- 9 -

OUT Pin operation: Connect the relay as above picture show, and calculate the correct VCC value according to the relay

parameter to make sure to following requirement:

Out1 Input voltage Must < 50V

Out1 input current Must < 500mA

Send one following SMS to give the relay the current to drive it:

W******,020,1,1

Send one following SMS to cut off the current of the relay:

W******,020,1,0

4.2 Fuel sensor or Temperature sensor: connect ad according to the diagram to monitor fuel or temperature.

4.3 ACC (Ignition Detection) : connect ad according to the diagram to save GPRS cost.

Send W******,014,xxxxxx to tracker to set time interval when ACC on.

Send W******,114,xxxxxx to tracker to set time interval when ACC off.

Send W******,114,000000 to cancel this function.
