Secure Internet Banking It is important that you always check whether your internet

connection is secure. Go to https://www.abnamro.nl/en and look

for the padlock icon in your browser’s address bar. You will find it

to the right or to the left of the URL. You can now log in securely.

No padlock icon in your address bar?

This means that you are not in the secure Internet Banking

environment. Do not enter your details and close the page.

Go to https://www.abnamro.nl/en and try again.

For more information about secure Internet Banking,

check https://www.abnamro.nl/security

Logging in to Internet Banking There are two ways of logging in: using your identification code

or using your card and e.dentifier. After logging in with your

identification code, you can quickly check your balance and transfer

small amounts to accounts you have used before. For some payment

orders and Internet Banking features, you will still need your card

and e.dentifier. This will be indicated by the e.dentifier icon shown

with the feature in question. After logging in using your card and

e.dentifier, you will be able to use all Internet Banking features

right away.

Want to log in using a (5-digit) identification code you

choose yourself?

To do so, simply enter your account number, card number

and your 5-digit identification code. If you already have an

Page 3: Manual Internet Banking

identification code for Mobile Banking, you can use it to log in

to Internet Banking directly.

If you do not have a code yet, you can set a new 5-digit code by

clicking ‘Choose identification code’. The first time you use this

code, you will be asked to confirm it using your card and e.dentifier.

In terms of security, you should treat your identification code

the same as you do your debit card’s PIN. For example, do

not share your identification code with anyone and do not

write it down. Also choose a code that is not easy to guess.

Make sure no one is looking over your shoulder while typing

key in your identification code.

Want to log in using your card and e.dentifier?

Enter your account number and card number, and follow the

instructions on screen to log in. To log in even faster, connect

the e.dentifier to your computer using the USB cable supplied.

You will then only have to key in your PIN to log in. When logging

in for the first time, you will have to download the software first

from abnamro.nl/ed

Checking your balance After logging in, you will see your account(s) summary page.

Click on an account for a detailed view of your transactions.

To see details of a transfer, simply click on the transfer you want

to consult.

Making a transfer 1. Click the yellow ‘New transfer’ button in the top right-hand

corner.

2. In the ‘From’ field, select the account from which you want to

make a transfer.

3. Enter the amount you want to transfer in the ‘Amount’ field.

4. Fill in the recipient’s name and IBAN under ‘To’. Double-check

the IBAN to make sure it is correct. If you regularly make transfers

to the same account number, tick the ‘save in address book’ box.

5. If you want, you can add a payment reference or description.

These are often specified on acceptgiros or invoices.

6. If you would like to make another transfer, click ‘save and new

transfer’. To send your payment right away, click ‘continue’.

Checking and sending your order After you have entered your payment order, all you need to do is

send it. If you have entered one single order, you can either send

it immediately, or choose to do so later. You can also line up multiple

orders and send them all at once, so that you only have to use

your identification code or e.dentifier once.

3. You can still check whether you have entered the required

details correctly. If you find an error in the details, click the

order to edit it. If the details are correct, tick the orders and

5. Send your order using your identification code or your card

and e.dentifier. Follow the instructions on screen.

Checking the status of your order After you have sent your order, you will be taken back to your

account summary. Always check whether your order has been

processed correctly.

1. To check whether the payment order you sent is listed among

your transactions, click the account from which you sent the

payment.

2. If you do not see your payment order among your transactions,

check the ‘In progress and rejected’ tab. Here you will find

payment orders that have not yet been processed or that have

been rejected.

3. The ‘Scheduled and standing’ tab lists transfers that are not

made immediately, but on a specific date: scheduled payment

orders, standing orders and announced direct debits.

Reversing a direct debitIf an incorrect direct debit has been made from your account,

you can reverse it yourself.

1. Find the direct debit by selecting ‘Tools’ in your personal

menu at the top of your screen. Next, click ‘Direct Debit’

under ‘Overviews’.

2. You will now see two tabs: ‘Dutch Direct Debits’ and ‘IBAN

Direct Debits’. On the ‘IBAN Direct Debits’ tab, you will find

all direct debits that are fully compliant with the new IBAN

guidelines. Most of your direct debits will be on this tab. If the

one you need is not listed, check the ‘Dutch Direct Debits’

tab. This is where all direct debits that use your old (pre-IBAN)

account number format are listed.

Find your IBAN direct debit.

Click the magnifying glass for the direct debit you want to

reverse. This will open the details of the direct debit.

Reverse your IBAN direct debit using the ‘Refuse & Send’

option.

3. This will take you back to your task list. Follow the instructions

on screen to check and send your order.

International transfersIf you want to transfer funds abroad, you will first have to change

your payment profile. To protect your account, the international

transfer option is disabled by default. After you have changed

your payment profile, it will take 2 hours before you can start

making international transfers.

You can then transfer funds both within and outside Europe in

euros or another currency.

How to change your payment profile

1. Click ‘Management’ in the top right-hand corner of your

personal menu. Next, click ‘International transfer settings’

under the header ‘Payment profile’.

2. You can choose for each account separately whether or not to

enable international transfers. We recommend that you only

enable this option for the account for which you need it.

3. We also recommend that you only activate international

transfers for the period during which you require this facility.

You can choose from the following options:

Allow international transfers for 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or

1 year. After this period has passed, the international transfer

option will automatically be disabled again.

Disable international transfers.

Permanently enable international transfers. Only do this if

you make international transfers on a regular basis.

4. Send your order using your card and e.dentifier. If you activate

international transfers, this option will only be available after

2 hours to prevent abuse. If you deactivate the facility, this will

take effect immediately.

European transfers using IBAN

When transferring funds to a European country, you will

generally use an IBAN. Setting up an IBAN payment order is

done in the same way as a ‘regular’ payment order.

Non-European transfers without IBAN

If you want to transfer funds outside Europe and/or in a currency

other than the euro, you will not be using an IBAN and should

therefore follow these instructions.

1. Go to the ‘Accounts’ tab and click ‘New transfer’.

Select the account from which you want to transfer funds.

Select the currency for the transfer. If the currency you want is

not listed, click ‘All currencies’ and select the currency you

need.

Select the destination country for your transfer. If the

country you want is not listed, click ‘All countries’ and

select the appropriate country.

Enter the amount you want to transfer. Key in the name and

account number. The latter can either be the IBAN or a bank

code. If you want, you can add a description.

2. When transferring funds outside Europe or in a currency other

than the euro, please fill in additional details, such as the address

of the person you are sending money to.

3. Enter the BIC for the recipient’s bank. If you do not know the

BIC, ask the recipient. If you are unable to find out the BIC,

select ‘BIC unknown’ and enter the name and address of the

bank. We will then find the BIC for you, for which you will be

charged extra. These charges are always debited separately or

along with your monthly payment package fee.

4. Use your e.dentifier to send the international transfer.

Printing your account statements1. In your personal menu at the top of the screen, click ‘Tools’.

This will open a page that contains the header ‘Download’.

Click ‘Account statements and annual statement’.

2. In the first drop-down menu, select the contract holder. Go to

the ‘Select statements and summaries’ section. You will see

another drop-down menu here. Click the menu to select the

kind of statement you want to print.

3. Use the third drop-down menu to select the required account.

4. Use the fourth drop-down menu to select the ‘Account

statement’ option.

5. Specify the period for which you want to see an account

statement. Click ‘OK’.

6. Click the PDF icon to open your account statement. You can

choose to either open the account statement or save it to your

computer.

7. The account statement will open on your screen. Click ‘print’

to print it.

Changing your debit card limitYou decide how much you want to be able to withdraw from

cash machines or spend on your card. This limit cannot exceed

the combined balance of your current and savings account. You

can also set a temporary limit, for example when you are going

on holiday.

If you send your limit request before 15.00 on a working day, it will

take effect from 10.00 the next day. If you send your request after

15.00, it will take two working days before you can use your limit.

1. Log in to Internet Banking using your e.dentifier.

2. Go to the ‘Management’ tab.

3. Click ‘Change card’s limit’ under the header ‘Payment profile’.

4. First read the terms and conditions so that you can accept the

terms and conditions for a change to your limit. Click ‘volgende’.

5. Enter the card number of the card for which you want to

change the limit.

6. You can now choose whether to change the limit temporarily

(tijdelijk) or permanently (permanent). If you choose ‘tijdelijk

wijzigen’ [temporarily], you are required to specify an end date.

7. Under ‘gewenste limiet’ [required limit], please specify how

much you want to be able to withdraw or spend. Tick your

required option. This will open an entry field where you can

enter the amount.

8. After you have entered the amount, click ‘volgende’.

9. The screen that will now open lets you check whether you

have entered everything correctly. After checking, click

‘verzenden’.

Settings for your debit card outside EuropeBy default, your debit card is set to only allow PIN payments

and cash withdrawals in Europe to prevent criminals being able

to abuse your debit card. Cash machines in countries outside

Europe may be outdated and easier for criminals to manipulate

to withdraw cash from your account using your stolen debit card.

If you are travelling outside Europe, be sure to change the setting

for your debit card so that you can use it everywhere.

Here is how to change your payment profile:

1. Click ‘Management’ in the top right-hand corner of your

personal menu.

Go to ‘Payment profile’.

Select ‘Debit card settings outside Europe’.

2. After you have entered your card number, you can specify

whether you want to be able to use your card only in Europe

or also outside Europe. Next, specify how long you want this

setting to apply.

You can enter a start date and an end date. This is the most

secure option.

You can also choose to always be able to use your card

outside Europe. This setting can be disabled at any time.

3. Now enter your email address. You will receive a confirmation

of the change to your settings.

4. Accept, and click ‘send’.

Log offWhen you have finished with Internet Banking, always log off

using the ‘Log off’ button in the top right-hand corner of the

screen. By logging off, you will prevent others gaining access

to your bank details.
