Man was created a trichotomy: composed of spirit, soul and body. Man's spirit communicates to God. Man's body communicates with the physical realm. Man's soul is the seat of self-will and decision making. When man dies, his spirit goes back to the Creator, his body returns to dust, but his soul starts the journey of everlasting life.

Gehenna is a place of torment for a person who died and whose soul is separated from the presence of God. Hell is a place for the Non-believers, those who rejected Jesus Christ, carnal & soulish believers.
