Organic Material Synthesis

My current research work focused on Synthesis and Properties of Push–Pull Chromophores Based on Porphyrin, Pyrazine, Benzene, Ferrocene, Thiophene, diketopyrrolopyrrole and benzothiadiazole based heterocyclic and aryl push-pull chromophores for nonlinear optics (NLO) properties, organic light-emitting diodes OLEDs, OTFTs, organic field-effect transistor (OFET), photodynamic therapy (PDT) Dye-sensitised solar cells (DSSCs) photovoltaic device (PV) and DFT calculation.

Push-pull chromophores enjoy widespread application in material chemistry as optoelectronic and optical data storage devices, organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), organic-inorganic hybrid materials, functional polymers etc. We have been reported the Pyrazine, Benzene, Thiophene, diketopyrrolopyrrole, benzothiadiazole, porphyrin and imidazole based chromophores as an acceptor moiety, a systematically enlarged -conjugated spacer and methoxy and N,N-dimethylamino groups as donors and nitro, cyano groups as acceptor.

Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry

In my doctoral research in my thesis 1st part , I have synthesized a series of 1,3-benzoxazine and bis-benzoxazines derivatives from the corresponding para subsitituted phenols, respective primary amines and formaldehyde under microwave irradiation as well as conventional method, and multi-step approach by benign green chemical protocols and studies their antimicrobial activities.

In 2nd part of my doctoral thesis deals with synthesis of pyrazole and pyridine derivatives and study their antitubercular activity. The antimycobacterial activity of the isomeric compounds has been tested against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Pyrazole, pyrrole, indole and pyridine derivates were synthesized from simple substituted acteopheone via multi step process.

In my research associate research carrier I have synthesized the libraries of

heterocyclic compounds pyridine with S-linked heterocyclic molecules like benzimidazole,

benzthiazole, benzoxazole, dihydrothiazole, imidazole, tetrazole, 5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole

(15-20,24 and 26) from their corresponding ketones with arylaldehyde and malononitrile in

sodium hydroxide in methanol/ethanol by one-pot multicomponent reaction and studies their

antitubercular activity.

Attempted many reactions in my research laboratory, like Fisher Indole synthesis,

Piloty pyrrole synthesis, Friedlander reaction and synthesis of some novel chalcones.

In my Master of Philosophy work I have synthesized, characterized Cu, Zn, Mn, Ni,

Fe and Co complexes having (2-{[2-(2-benzoyl-4-chloroanilino)-2-hydroxyethenyl]amino}-

5-chlorophenyl)(phenyl) methanone ligand and their biological activity studies.
