Term 1 has Come to an End I wish all Mano families a safe and happy Easter holiday break. Today we finish at 2.30 pm. We look forward to seeing everyone back and ready for learning for Term 2 on Monday 16th April at 9am. This has been a short term but a very busy one as 71 new Preps have been welcomed to Mano and settled into their new routines really well. During the upcoming holidays staff will take possession of the new Entry Foyer, Reception Area, Staffroom and Sick Bay areas (the current temporary entry to the General Office will be closed). Classes 2O (Mrs Orford) and 2S (Mr Santilli) will be relocated into the Multi as the builders take over the ‘middle part’ of the Admin/Junior Building (the final stage of this $839,000 refurbishment project). We anticipate all works will be completed by the end of Term 2.
Mano Carnivale Saturday 28th April 11am – 4pm It’s only 4 weeks away now! Thank you to the volunteers who have offered their time to help on the day with important work such as stall supervision. Thank you to those who have donated goods to date – such as: wine, lucky jars, chocolate, second hand books and toys, silent auction donations, coloured hair spray and class hamper contributions. But we need more! We currently have 50% of the volunteers we need for our stalls to go ahead. PLEASE, PLEASE sign up to help on the day. We appreciate that parents may be wishing to spend time at the Mano Carnivale with their children but we hope all parents can sign-up to volunteer at least one, two hour shift to support – setting up, packing up, working on a stall, etc. Anyone can volunteer - grandparents, aunts & uncles, neighbours and friends. To sign-up to volunteer please visit http://manifoldheightsprimaryschool.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/ . If you need assistance please contact the General Office. Raffle tickets were sent home this week and this is another way in which we can all support this year’s Mano Carnivale. At the Mano Carnivale there will be lots of rides for children, live entertainment, farm animals, dunk-a-teacher, lots of food for sale plus MUCH MORE! Please keep the date free. The more support we receive the bigger and better the day will be.
Term 1 Unleashing Potential Award Winners Announced At Assembly on Monday the Term 1 Unleashing Potential award winners were announced. Congratulations to: Prep – Alfie Oliver, Grade 1 – Avery Hickmon, Grade 2 – Amelie Bock, Middles – Charlie Hair, Seniors – Emma Mathieson. These very significant achievements are selected by the classroom teachers in each cohort to award one student who has made outstanding personal growth throughout the term. They have consistently displayed the school values of Respect, Responsibility and Safety – as they really have ‘Unleashed Their Potential’!
New School Leaders Appointed for Term 2 On the first day of Term 2 (at Assembly which will be held outdoors) our new Senior student leaders will be announced and they will be presented with their badges by the outgoing student leaders. On Wednesday of this week I was privileged to hear the seven nomination speeches from students who are seeking to be School Captains – these were very impressive and passionate. I am confident we will have some fabulous appointments. I also note the terrific work done by our ‘retiring’ Term 1 School Captains, Jack Greco and Chelsea Sears, who have been excellent role models and proactive leaders for the Mano school community.
Congratulations Mrs Hughes and Mrs Morony Two of our staff have recently become married – Miss Bassi (now Mrs Hughes) and Miss Benson (now Mrs Morony) respectively. I’m sure all community members will join me in wishing them all the very best for their futures.
Easter Egg Hunt after Monday’s Assembly On Monday at recess time students were invited to find a laminated Easter Bunny poster (10 were hidden in the school grounds). This created quite a deal of excitement and in exchange for a poster a chocolate bunny was presented. Well done to Isla, Spencer, Mia, Juliet, Isla, Lochlan, Neve and Abbey, Jake, Layla and Paddy on finding these. See photos below.
Next Working Bee – Sunday 15th April Our next scheduled Working Bee is Sunday 15th April 9 – 11am. Please join us, bring a friend, bring the kids. Morning tea will be provided at 11am on the day. Plans for this day will include getting our school grounds ready for Term 2 and ready for all of our visitors to the Mano Carnivale two weeks later!

Hi Everyone,
It has been a great last week of the term and we have enjoyed group games and other activities at OSHC. Vivian, Jacob and Jack
built Lego houses. A group of children enjoyed ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Bobs and Statues’. Samuel, William and Ingrid played with zoo
pieces. Isla and Madeleine made a poster showing festivals. Ella and Maja played with dolls. Children got the opportunity to be
active outside. Harriet, Madeleine and Scarlet coloured masks.
Each week we will be selecting a child that has demonstrated amazing qualities as our Star of the Week. Congratulations Ingrid
Lloyd-Johnsen.
I would like to thank all the families attending the OSHC room.
