X. Admission Procedure

DET-2008 refers to the Diploma Entrance Test conducted by the State of Orissa for Admission to different courses of the Engineering / Technology including Beauty Culture for which pas in Class 10 is the entry qualification. A separate DET-2008 (LA) Shall be conducted for lateral admission for ITI / Vocational candidates for admission into 3rd Semester. The reservation policy of the Government of Orissa and the Government approved procedure given in the Brochure shall be strictly followed for allocation of seats. Admission is strictly based on DET merit rank and choice of the candidates with respect to institution and course given during the counseling, subject to availability. Candidates will be called for counseling as per a schedule to be given During counseling all certificates in original will be verified. The candidates are required to bring all the original certificates along with two set of attested photocopy of the documents. A candidate selected / provisionally admitted through the counseling for a course in a diploma institution is automatically admitted as a registered student of State council of Technical Education & Vocational Training Orissa Bhubaneswar (SETE&VT), Subject to production of TC/CLC. A candidate is required to deposit the necessary fees for registration at the time of counseling Completion of counseling thus completes the admission process. A candidate once admitted through the counseling to a particular institution forfeits the fees paid by him/her, if he/she later decides not to join the allotted institution/course or fails to report within seven days from the date of his/her admission at the institution concerned. Rank card of the admitted candidates is cancelled at the time of counseling to prevent admission of a candidate to more than one institution.

Candidates who do not receive the rank card or have lost the same after receiving may attend counseling confirming his/her rank from the Centre where he/She appeared the DET-2008 or from Principal, UMA Charan Patnaik Engineering School, Berhampur. After closure of central counseling a reconciliation meeting will be convened by DTE&T, Orissa and the Private institutions will be authorized to full-up the vacant seats with the candidates from the approved merit list such admission at the institution level shall be done after duly notifying in local News Papers. XI. CRITERIA AND WEIGHTAGES FOR ADMISSION

For Admission to Engineering Schools / Polytechnics under State Category, a candidate has to satisfy at least one

of the following 03 criteria.

i. a) The candidates must have passed / appeared 10+ examination or its equivalent

examination or its equivalent examination from any of the recognized institution in the

State

b) The Candidate must have passed a two year ITI / +2 Vocational Course from any

recognized institution in the State.

ii. Parents of candidate must be permanent resident of Orissa. To claim benefit under this

class, candidate shall furnish a permanent resident certificate from a Revenue Officer

not below the Rank of Tahasildar of the area where his/her parents have permanent

residence.

iii) Son/daughters/spouse of the permanent employees of the Government of Orissa /

Government of India/Government of Orissa undertakings/Government of India

undertaking serving in the state of Orissa at the time of application. To claim this

benefits under this S-category, candidates has to submit a certificate from the Employer

of his / her parents/spouse in the prescribed from.
