Online evaluation of teachers by students is
conducted regularly, at the end of each semester. In addition to the online feedback, two intermediate
feedbacks (after one month and mid semester) from students are obtained to monitor the performance of
the faculty and facilities.
A Committee has been constituted to look into the
grievances of staffs as well as students and to redress them accordingly. The committee will take
up matters related to asperities/hardships raced by staffs and students and find an amicable solution
11. Parent Teacher Association : PTA is the best link to teachers, and is one of the easiest ways to become involved in students activities relating to college. PTA forms the best
platform for the Parent – teacher interaction, building a good rapport. PTA provides parents to
collectively involve and influence the decisions
taken by the college that will influence the
academic future of their wards.PTA meetings are

12. ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
As flag bearers of excellence in professional education in South Kerala, “Lourdes Matha
Catholic Educational Society” was given birth by the initiative of Rev. Fr. Joseph
Kurinjiparampil, with the encouragement and association of a few Syrian Catholic
Parishioners in Thiruvananthapuram, who have left indelible imprints in the segment of
education and with the blessings and patronage of His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil, the then
Archbishop of Changanassery.

Lourdes Matha College of Science and Technology established by the “Lourdes Matha
Catholic Educational Society”, has been approved by the Government of Kerala and the All
India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) vide order No: 06/06/KER/ENGG 2002-03
dated 27-05-2002 and is affiliated to the University of Kerala and APJ Abdul Kalam
Technological University.
The College has a spacious campus of 25 acres at Kuttichal,a rustic village in the outskirts of
Thiruvananthapuram city, hardly 24 km away from it. The scenic beauty and virgin
surroundings of the picturesque lush green rubber plantations in the back drop of misty
Western Ghats and the serene, tranquil hillock provides a perfect and appropriate study
environment. The institution has a vision, mission, and quality policy for augmenting and
maintaining its academic excellence.

The College is governed by a Governing Board consisting of 29 members and has an
academic advisory board consisting of 16 members. His Grace Mar Joseph Perumthottam,the
Archbishop of Changanacherry is the Patron and Spiritual Guide and Rev.Fr. Jose Viruppel,
Vicar, LourdesForane Church is the President.
13. FACILITIES& AMENITIES
13.1 Central Library & Information Centre
All the members of staff and students of the College are entitled to use the Library.

13.2 IIT Bombay Remote Centre
The College is a remote centre for providing QIP training to faculty members of engineering
colleges through video conferencing. Faculty members from technical institutions in the
vicinity of the college are provided with the facility to attend STTP’s and workshops
conducted by IIT Bombay. Our college is a 5 Star rated remote centre of IIT Bombay.
13.3 Language Laboratory
The College has set up a language laboratory to assist the students to develop their
communication skills. The laboratory has both audio and video facilities to learn any language
- presently English and German are being taught here. The students are also being given an
opportunity to develop their personality by attending the Personality Development Course.
13.4 Career Guidance and Placement Unit ( CGPU )
The Placement and Training Cell of the College is working under the leadership of Faculty
members and students from various departments. The cell is managed by the dynamic and
committed members of the faculty. The Cell conducts industry interaction and reputed talks
of experts like NASSCOM Director, Finishing Schools, etc.The Cell arranges and facilitates
hands-on training in emerging trends, and invited talks of eminent personalities and industrial
experts and arranges various placement drives for the students of our college.
13.5 Research, Consultancy and Extension Activities
The Research & Development activities at Lourdes Matha College of Science and
Technology (LMCST) are guided by the Research Advisory Council and the R & D activities,
innovative projects by students and sponsored research projects by the faculty members are
being coordinated by the research division set up in the college as Lourdes Innovation Facility
for Excellence (LIFE). The mission of LIFE@LMCST is to innovate excellence in academic,
technology development and R & D activities. This is achieved by providing technical
support for innovate ideas of faculty members and students, by integrating the academic
projects with the research interests and by sharing research and development experiences in
advanced topics among the students and faculty members through workshops, conferences
and seminars. LIFE@LMCST also aims at developing and encouraging entrepreneurship
skills among the students.

An Industry - Institute Interaction facilitates greater collaborationand cooperation of the
institution of the college with the neighbouring as well as global Industries. The various

▪ IEEE Student Branch:Institute of Electrical &Electronics Engineers,Inc., a non-profit
organization, is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of
technology. The student Branch givesstudents the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow
students, as well asfaulty members and professionals in the emerging fields of technology.
▪ CSI Student Branch: Computer Society of India is a Professional Bodywith 72 Chapters and
over 511 Students branches in Engineering Collegesthroughout India. It has association with
similar societies of other countries.A CSI student's branch with a membership of over
hundred studentshasbeen functional since October 2005. Faculties and students of
ComputerScience& IT Departments enthusiastically participate in the activities of CSI.
▪ ISTE Student Branch :The major objective of the Indian Society for Technical Education is
to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional
engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations.
▪ NIQR Student Chapter : National Institution for Quality and reliability is administrated by a
National Executive Council functioning at the National Head Quarters at Chennai, Tamil
Nadu and Executive Committee at various Branches. Leading Industrialists, Top Level
officers / Executives, Managers, Professionals and Academia elected through a democratic
process with appropriate representation are the Members of the Executive Council and
Branch Executive Committees. It has student members from first year to final year who
actively participate in all activities of NIQR.

TMA is an affiliate of All India Management Association (AIMA), an apex body of
professional managers engaged in promoting excellence in management. TMA, established
in 1985 has 325 individual members, 30 corporate members and 20 student members.

13.9 College Hostel
Hostel is second home to mould the students as excellent professionals with good discipline
and right attitude. The College has excellent residential facilities for the students admitted to
the various courses. There are two hostels in the campus. St. Thomas Hostel for Boys and
Assisi Hostel for Girls. Hostels have a common room with LED television & cable
connection for recreation facilities. The hostels have separate well equipped Mess, Kitchen
and Dining Hall, Local/national newspapers arealso subscribed with a view to enhance
communication skills and personality of the boarders into play. There is a strict set of hostel
rules regarding general discipline, study time, mess time etc. and all are expected to follow
the rules. Ragging in any form in strictly prohibited by law (Kerala prohibition of Ragging
Act 1998 section 3 which makes ragging Punishable)
Assisi Ladies Hostel

Assisi Hostel is run by Franciscan Clarist Sisters. This Hostel can accommodate about 75
girls. The Management evinces keen interest in ensuring that the living of the boarders on the
campus should be secure, safe and academic oriented. A chapel is provided, so that catholic
students can attend daily Holy Mass, and prayer meetings. Hostel, with its beautifully
landscaped and carefully tended gardens, provides an ideal environment for a congenial
learning experience.

St. Thomas Boys Hostel
St. Thomas Hostel can accommodate 210 inmates. Hostel administration is managed by a
Priest, who is the Chief Warden and a team of Wardens drawn from the faculty. Hostel
Executive Committee takes decisions on routine matters. The hostel is set-up in a three
storeyed building. Biometric system has been introduced to monitor the attendance and
presence of students in the hostel. Hostel has full-fledged supporting staff, security staff and
other workers. A chapel is provided, so that catholic students can attend the daily Holy Mass,
and prayer meetings. During study time hostel inmates are expected to observe absolute
silence. The student has the freedom to study in his own room or to get involved in group
study in the study hall.

13.10 Transportation
College Buses are available for staff and students. They will be plying fromvarious points in
Attingal, Venjaramoodu, Trivandrum, Balaramapuram, Neyyattinkara, Parassala, Poovar and
Nedumangadto College Campus and back on all working days.

13.11 Canteen& Cafeteria
The college has a modern canteen. More than 200 students and faculty members can be
served simultaneously. It houses an elegantly designed kitchen which exemplifies cleanliness.
College also have 6 cafeteria well distributed in the campus to take care to the need of all
during coffee break time.
13.12 Book Stall
A good collection of Technical Books is available in the Book stall. Stationery items are also
available in the shop.All technical books in accordance with prescribed university syllabus is
available at the stall. Students can buy them at discounted rate.
13.13 IEDC
With the aim of promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship activities among the students of
LMCST, an Innovation Entrepreneurship and Development Cell (IEDC) was inaugurated with
the support of Kerala Start-up Mission (KSUM). IEDC provides the students of Lourdes
Matha College of Science & Technology an opportunity to join the dynamic young
entrepreneurs’ population and aims to boost the student entrepreneurship activities by
conducting workshops, seminars and leadership camps. The Innovation Entrepreneurship and
Development Centre (IEDC) and ‘startup boot camp’ of LMCST was inaugurated on 14th
Monday September 2015 by Sri. P H Kurian, I.A.S, the then, Principal Secretary of Industries
& IT 0and a young entrepreneur Mr. AyappanAsokan, an alumnus of LMCST, shared his
experience and ideas for becoming a successful entrepreneur.
13.14 Robotics Club
Robotics club is the result of an inter-departmental initiative to nurture the best minds in the
fast growing field of robotics. Inter-departmental and inter-collegiate competitions are held in
collaboration with reputed institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkeeetc.
13.15 Photographic Club
Faculty and students who have great interest and passion for photography are welcome to be a
part of this club. Competitions and photo exhibitions are conducted periodically.
13.16 NSS Unit
The National Service Scheme unit No. 525works on the motto ‘Not Me But You’, reflects the
essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self – less service. NSS in the last one
year conducted various social service activities such as awareness programmes among rural
people of Digital India, blood donation camp & in – house organic vegetable farming.

13.17 Staff Club
It's the forum where both teaching as well as non-teaching staff get together to celebrate
festival events like Onam and Christmas. It also supports their members and relatives,
students in their exigency. The club meets monthly to interact with each other so as to
develop a very healthy and strong bond of friendship.
13.18 Sukrutha
Sukrutha is a non profitable charity and social service club formed by the third year students
of LMCST whose mission is to assist the poor and needy in and around the college to the best
possible manner. Sukrutha provides an excellent platform for the students to do their part to
build a better society. Sukrutha has organised a blood donation camp in association with the
NSS Lmcst unit inside the campus. They also organised a free eye check up camp, for both
students and for the public, inside the campus. By organising all these events sukrutha intends
to achieve its vision to create a better society.
13.19 Vivarthana
Vivarthana – “Changing The Culture of Innovation”, aims at improving soft skills as well as
other hard skills needed for students to understand the marvel of engineering. The club is an
organisation by the students of ECE, with a mission to make learning an experience you can
live with rather than just gathering some information. Vivarthana plans to conduct tech talks,
seminars, workshops, industrial visits, product design, ideation workshops, incubation for
innovative products, debates, quizzes, social face and more. 14. SCHOLARSHIPS & FEE WAIVERS OFFERED :
• Total Fee Waiver
Tuition fee waiver scholarship of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will be
made mandatory is all the technical institutions. The scheme is for economically backward
students including women students (annual income less than 20.50 lakes) are eligible under
the scheme. 5% of sanctioned intake per course shall be available for these admissions.
• KarunyaVarsham Scholarship Details
KarunyaVarshamScholarship Scheme was started in 2016-17 by Lourdes Matha Catholic
Educational Society ( LMCES ) . The top 33 meritorious students who are selected based on
their marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry ( or equivalents subjects ) in plus
two examination ( 50% weightage ) and score obtained in KarunyaVarsham Scholarship
Qualifying Examination ( 50% weightage ) are eligible for 100% tuition fee waiver ( benefit
of Rs. 75,000/- per year ) in Lourdes Matha College of Science and Technology ( LMCST ).

subjects OR Should have passed in BCA Degree of minimum
three years duration from a recognized University. The
candidate should have secured a minimum aggregate of 50%
marks in their Degree examination. For SEBC and physically
handicapped candidates, the aggregate mark required is 45%.
For SC and ST candidates, a minimum pass in the degree
examination is sufficient. No rounding off of percentage of
marks to the nearest higher integer is permitted.

25. ANTI RAGGING ACT
As per the Honorable Supreme Court order dated 08.05.2009 and in consideration of the
determination of the Central Government and the University Grants Commission, ragging in any kind
is prohibited.
Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
a) Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has
the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.

b) Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely
to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof
in any fresher or any other student. c) Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which
has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to
adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student. d) Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any
other student or a fresher. e) Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned
to an individual or a group of students. f) Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student
by students g) Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping,
forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person; h) Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving
perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the
discomfiture to fresher or any other student. i) Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or
without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a
student over any fresher or any other student.
Institutions/ Hostels vide the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act 1998 Section 3
which makesRagging punishable as follows: a) Imprisonment up to a term of 2 years b) A fine up to Rs 10,000/- c) Dismissal from the institution. The students, so dismissed, shall not be admitted to any
otherEducational Institution for three years. An Anti-Ragging Squad is constituted in the college annually. The squad shall make surprise raids in
the areas earmarked for them andidentify/ check any activities which can develop into a ragging
incident. Thesquad shall in particular keep in view the places where the fresher’s and seniorsget
chance to interact. The squad shall report to the principal, if any preventiveactions are to be taken.
Till date, no incidents of ragging have been reported in Lourdes Matha College of Science and
Technology due to the strict implementation of discipline inculcated in our college.
