Nicole Willis Management Plan Fall 2013

Ms. Willis’ Classroom Management Plan

I. My teaching subject area is Biology and my anticipated grade level is seventh grade.

II. My procedural expectations are outlined as follows:1.) Students are to raise their hand when asking a question or giving an

answer, and wait to be called on- in order to ensure successful classroom discussions.

2.) Students are to enter the classroom and promptly get out materials listed on the board- and put the rest of their belongings away (under their chairs, in the lab desk). They will write down the warm-up question and answer in their drill books.

3.) When class comes to a close, students will be in their seats and wait to be dismissed.

4.) Students are to wait until instruction is finished to obtain lab materials. Lab materials will be pre-set on the back table (all materials for one group in a lab tray) and groups will send one member to obtain their tray.

5.) Students will not ask to go to water fountain or restroom during instruction. Once they have shown that they have started on the activity, they will be allowed to use the restroom.

6.) When applicable, let me know beforehand if you will be late to class or leaving early. If tardy or dismissed early, leave class with minimal disruptions and obtain make-up work when you return (if you did not do so in advance).

7.) When homework is given, it will be turned in at the beginning of class. Late assignments will be accepted, but it will drop a letter grade for every day that it is late.

III. Student Behavior Expectations (on a poster in the front of the classroom)a. Respect (myself and each other)b. Responsibility (academically, for your own success) c. Readiness (to learn, participate, have fun!)

IV. Consequences of broken rules:Consequences for broken rules will be determined based on the severity of the offense. However, the procedure for handling broken rules will be the same. The student will be asked to leave the class, after instruction is given and the rest of the class is working independently, I will go and talk to the student in the hallway. Behaviors will be discussed and consequences ill be given

V. How rules/consequences would vary:Rules will not vary because I think that expectations should be consistent throughout all of schooling so that students are not confused as to what is acceptable and not acceptable in school. However, I think consequences may be modified based on grade level taught because I think middle school can be given a little more leeway, but a lot more strict in high school (because by that time they should know what is acceptable and not).
