Managing in Difficult Times and Resolving Conflict for Leadership Success
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Managing in Difficult Times and Resolving Conflict for Leadership Success examines complex difficulties that leaders face while exploring strategies for turning challenges into positive, win-win experiences. Additional techniques for strengthening your team through tough situations, preparing for difficult conversations, reducing cost, securing employees support and alternatives prior to layoffs are examined. A key challenge for managers is keeping employees motivated and productive during times of change. We will discuss strategies such as how to survive and grow in a changing institution by being innovative and adapting, how to recognize and manage employee stress as well as your own. Finally, we will explore techniques to dealing with the challenge of accountability, assigning responsibility, and knowing when to demonstrate a careful balance of perseverance and flexibility when faced with setbacks.
The face-to-face component teaches leaders how to recognize the signs of escalating conflict and take appropriate action to minimize damage. Leaders are introduced to two resolutions tactics – Coach and Mediate – and will practice using techniques as they coach and mediate to resolve a conflict.
