1. Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to manage the section and provide designated engineering services, in the form of maintenance and projects to support the business objectives and stakeholder requirements.

The job holder will deliver the successful implementation of the Engineering Services (ES) improvement programme on time and in full. Qualifications and Education:

The jobholder should possess a Bachelor degree or similar in Engineering with additional qualifications in the area of responsibility

Experience:

The jobholder should have a wide and in depth experience in engineering and maintenance likely to be achieved over 8 years of which at least 5 years should be in leading teams responsible for maintenance and projects; defining objectives and achieving results by communicating job expectations and evaluating outcomes.

Training:

Developmental training is required in any area for professional development and/or mandatory purposes.

1.Responsible for the quality of service provided by the section; analysing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system improvements and creating a challenging climate and culture which encourages and rewards team effectiveness.

2.Constantly seek innovation in engineering maintenance practices and recommend information requirements to support decision making in the section. Maintain up to date knowledge and awareness of improvement methodologies and new techniques in maintenance engineering and their relevance to an airport operating environment.

3.Initiate the creation of and deliver key objectives, goals and strategies and encourage continuous improvement processes and practices. Manage team with responsibility for meeting/achieving planned workload operation of equipment and attending emergency requests. Ensuring that the section’s assets are appropriately maintained to fulfil operational demand in accordance with issued Maximo plans.

4.Deliver financial objectives by forecasting requirements by preparing a section annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions. 15

5.Analyse and use reports from stakeholders, finance, maintenance and engineering management to continuously improve service effectiveness and efficiency to optimise asset life. Develop stakeholder contacts by regular reviews of progress and by establishing strong relationships with designated staff at the appropriate level of the stakeholder organisations.

6 Manage staff efficiency and effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. This will include coaching, counselling and disciplining employees.

The job holder will be responsible for managing a budget to be agreed in consultation with the Head of Division and may be updated from time to time to meet business needs.

The job holder is accountable with authority for the management of the section within the policies and procedure’s defined by DA .

The job holder will report to Head of Division, Engineering Services. The job holder will work with limited supervision with some latitude for the use of initiatives and

judgement in consultation with the Head of Division. Job holder is required to make decisions based on assessment of technical, policy and legal

requirements often with the need to understand and interpret complex technical information and derive alternative solutions to minimise the impact on the airport operation and assets.

6. Operating Environment

The job holder will spend some of his/ her time working in an air conditioned office environment. However, certain jobs may warrant full or part of the day spent on site outdoors, in extremes of weather, high noise levels, rotating & vibrating equipment.
