Inaugurating the 16th Foundation Day celebrations of Vivekananda

Institute of Human Excellence at Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad today

(Friday), MD, HMR Mr.NVS Reddy addressed a large gathering of

management, engineering, CA and other students on “Leadership Challenges

in executing Hyderabad Metro Rail project”.

Explaining the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings for

building a resurgent India, Mr. Reddy emphasized on character, fearlessness,

hard work and self sacrifice. Describing people (human resources) as the

most valuable resource for any nation, he urged the students to be innovative

and contribute to the prosperity of the nation.

Delving deep into the thoughts of un-conventional thinkers who

changed the course of human history, he advised students to embark upon

path-breaking approaches to achieve higher goals. Citing the Hyderabad

Metro Rail example, which is the largest mass transit project in the public

private partnership (PPP), he explained as to how he turned around this once

“written off” and much ridiculed project into a successful project winning

several global and national awards.

Given its innovative financial model and engineering ingenuity, he

predicted that Hyderabad Metro Rail would become a role model for other

infrastructure projects in India and the world. Such path-breaking projects

can only be successfully executed with courage of conviction, single minded

dedication, dogged perseverance and grit, he emphasized. He recalled the

multiple challenges that the project encountered during the initial stages and

explained as to how he converted every challenge into an opportunity to add

value to the project.

Elaborating the multiple skill sets, knowledge of different disciplines,

expertise in latest technologies that are required for successful managers to

lead complex projects, Mr.NVS Reddy urged the students to develop these

skills, remain focused and serve especially vulnerable and needy sections

such as women, children, senior citizens, differently abled people and the

poor. He advised them to refrain from negative thoughts and deeds and bring

pride to the country through innovation and success.
