Cooperative automated driving via a spatial information server
Vehicle’s statusFuture pathand positions
Shared spatial information
Vehicle can pass through intersection without stopping, if it can see other vehiclesintentions in advance
Realizing smooth traffic of automated vehicles by using simple and long-period (1s) communication. Sharing information of future positions of vehicles
Objective (Cyber space)
Co-operative automated driving via a spatial information server
System overviewID:12Time=t+1.5

ID:12Time=t+2
Vehicle width t : current time
Future positions (X,Y)
Grid map
Writing vehicle occupancy on the grid map representing real space
Server
Vehicle 1 (ID:12)
Writing of vehicle occupancy
Grid map contains current and future positions of multipole vehicles
Co-operative automated driving via a spatial information server
Searching vehicle occupancy on the grid map according to request from a vehicle.
Requested area by vehicle 1
ServerSystem overviewReading of vehicle occupancy and cooperative control
Conducting cooperative control using information from the server
Co-operative automated driving via a spatial information server
Evaluation No-Cooperative control:Vehicle waits for the vehicle on outer circuit that is entering intersection in less than 5 sec
Cooperative control:Vehicle goes into intersection if non-interference of future positions are confirmed

Conclusions Two of our studies that are related to the words of “Creation
of co-evolutional Cyber-Physical Spaces” are introduced.
The project of “Creation of co-evolutional Cyber-Physical Spaces” is very interesting and exciting for researchers on smart mobility.
Transport system in the co-evolutional cyber-physical spaces will be an advanced cooperation system among vehicles, drivers, mobile robots, pedestrians and infrastructures through the cyber space.
We must consider how to evolve the system through the cooperation.
Thank you for your kind attention.
