Summary of Progress:

• Construction of the clay barrier lay was completed.

• The two 8-hour and 14-day performance testing of the groundwater treatment system wascompleted.

• Construction work on the treatment facility and storage tank building continued. Constructionis complete, except for installation of exhaust fans and louvers.

• Restoration and landscaping continued along the raw water pipeline routes.

• The LSRG selected RMT to operate and maintain the Lemberger Sites Closure Systems andGroundwater Treatment System.

• Additional laboratory and field SOPs for the pre-startup sampling of ground water and surfacewater were submitted to the WDNR for review by LSRG's pre-startup sampling contractor.

Summary of Physical Testing and Analyses Completed:

• Influent and effluent testing results from the groundwater treatment system performance testingis attached.

Summary of Changes to RD/RA Work Plan:

• None.

Summary of Outside Contacts:

• Certain landowners in the area were contacted regarding on-going construction.

Areas of Concern:

• The pre-startup groundwater sampling have been delayed. These delays may impact theschedule for startup of full-time operation of the ground water treatment system.

• Construction activities have been delayed due to weather.

Action Taken to Resolve Areas of Concern:

• LSRG's pre-startup sampling contractor is working with the USEPA and WDNR to gainapproval of the analytical and field SOPs and to conduct the pre-startup sampling in mid-August.

• We are working with the construction contractor to reschedule activities in an effort to minimizedelays in completion of the construction.

Key Personnel Changes:

• None.

Activities Planned for Next Month:

• Site restoration and landscaping will continue.

• All construction work is expected to be substantially complete by the end of the month.

• Prefmal Inspection is scheduled for August 27.

• The pre-startup groundwater and surface water sampling are expected to be completed.

• Training of the O&M operator for the groundwater treatment system is expected to becompleted.

• Preparation of the O&M Plan Addenda by the O&M contractor is expected to begin.

• Startup of the groundwater treatment system is expected after October 1, 1996
